You have to be right twice (sell side and buy side). And as other posters have mentioned there is the tax issue to deal with if the fund is held in a taxable account. Stay the course and take the guesswork out of investing.

Given the mortgage deductibility is no longer a factor to consider I would pay off the mortgage. You can’t put a price tag on peace of mind. You’re already leaning that way anyway. So just do it.
