Given the mortgage deductibility is no longer a factor to consider I would pay off the mortgage. You can’t put a price tag on peace of mind. You’re already leaning that way anyway. So just do it.

I paid the one year $37 license renewal fee (I can't recall having a 2 year option :? ). Anyway, there wasn’t an incentive to pay for 2 years because my county is not one of the 19 PA counties that charge a $5 fee.

My Uncle Joe (1st Marine Division) was killed in action on June 16, 1945 in the battle for Okinawa (April 1-June 22). I was only 3 months old at the time so I didn’t really know him. But I will be thinking about him today and saluting all veterans tomorrow on Veteran’s Day.

10) Early retirement package

The main reason I retired at age 56 (in 2001) was due to an early retirement package that I was offered. Otherwise I would have probably worked until age 62.
