... Is there a reason you want to put off the conversion of the two IRAs until 2019? Our income will drop to a lower bracket in 2019 so am trying to "clean up" my IRAs during this window. I am thinking that the 2-year plan has a less change of triggering any flag with IRS. Thank you for your time.

Yes both are mine. Assuming you already have Form 8606 for the non-deductible contributions? Or you won't if it is a 2018 contribution. I figure our fixed income (covers about 70% of our expenses) comes from these resources:
10% Pension
20% Savings Bond
40% Total Bond (401K) and Muni Bond (Taxable).
