Re: Cheapest dress shirt to wear under a sweater
If you've got the time for a treasure hunt you could browse local Goodwill stores. Inconsistent sizing but lot of variety. Getting stuff from Goodwill can help to avoid comments from co-workers such as "New shirt?". Ehh, thanks but I have to draw the line somewhere, I don't wear other people's used clothes, no matter how like-new the clothes appear. wow, just wow. "Savers" is a multi-Billion dollar annual sales, used only retail out fit, selling primarily apparel. There are many NIB closeout items there you might consider. If you think about it as treasure hunting I found a NIB 149.00 space heater/ cooling unit for 4.99 w/a additional 33.333% off for elders. One of a kind items are sold there for special people t...

I owned a produce stevedoring, handling, packing, re-packing, and delivery operation for over a decade, along with produce importation and a day labor operation. Things I've seen point to organics are marketing, only, (IMO) I cannot list all the nonsense (label-re-label) I've seen w/organics, other than the usual 100% mark up, particularly bananas . Whom do you trust? It's close to a 100% markup, who wants to loose that free money? I'm talking 10's to 100s of millions. I was just in my Kroger's supermarket last night and the organic bananas were only 10 cents/lb. more than the regular ones; $.69/$.59 And unlike the rice, the few times I bought the organic ones, I found they were quite different in physical characteristics and ripening beha...

To add to my point's above ALL banana's have to be gassed 6-48hrs to turn their deep dark green pre-sale transport color to what you see when they arrive in the stores. Apples sometimes have to be gassed also. I forget what their gassed with. I do not recall organic banana's back then at all, just all the other items we see today. fwiw,! Best2u.

AFAIK, LPL Financial is a new implementation & operation of Susan Kaplans old BOS radio spot called "The Money Show". I'd suggest you research both her and LPL, I recall bad press. Its now a publicly traded family business of retirement focused sales support staff & RIAs selling load funds, no doubt w/commissioned and/or AUM fund offerings.
You should be able to have another custodian, consider VG, transfer everything "in kind", w/no tax bite, i'd guess, you look it up. I'd suspect D.E might have less S.E.C oversight for some reason thats probably why their based there. A brief cursory glance at the Optimum funds site portrays simplicity w/few funds, but showing ERs that are very expensive imo. Good luck!

The financial industry can only sell to us, what we as investors put up with, or better yet actively line up to buy. There are no more bucket shops(or the like), or purveyors of ETNs(absorbed by ETFs), and fewer closed end funds etc. too.
I'd suspect ETFs are still being offered as the newest, latest, & greatest, option for both new and seasoned investors to consider. I too see no reason ETFs replace Mutual Funds. As always its great to see Allan's insights & opinions.

Re: What inflation rate do you use for your planning?
A known is the FEDs inflation targets. The FED is imperfect. Hyperinflation & inflation happens, its built into all FIAT currencies monetary equation. Cyprus not Greece~(thx VT) recently had a 10% savers confiscation mandate about 2 yrs back. Your question, I use a variable percentage rate of inflation depending on market conditions that equates to more than usual estimates.
Good luck!
