Re: Ohio 529 Rollover / Tax questions

In case anyone else is interested, I called the Ohio CollegeAdvantage 529 plan today and asked the representative my questions. He indicated that he didn't think a direct transfer of the OH 529 plan to another state's plan would require OH tax recapture of my prior deductions, but I should "con...

Re: Ohio 529 Rollover / Tax questions

I've read my copy of the 9/8/2016 " College Advantage Direct 529 Savings Plan: Offering Statement and Participation Agreement" which is the 76 page legal document. https://www.collegeadvantage.com/docs/default-source/enrollment-forms/offering-statement-and-participation-agreement.pdf At t...

Ohio 529 Rollover / Tax questions

Any Ohio 529 experts out there? I am considering rolling over my Ohio 529 into a California 529 and I have several questions. The main reason I am interested in doing this is because of a current CA 529 promotion offering up to $500 per beneficiary for rolling over another state's plan (see: https:/...

Re: Sling TV experiences

I signed up for the 7-day free trial last week. I have 6 MBps dsl and use a Roku stick. I watched about four hours of programming during the free trial. Except for a five-minute stretch where it appeared to lose its connection (I don't know if this was Sling's fault or an issue with my dsl) I was ha...

Re: HSA rollover returned non-sufficient funds, tax issues

I tried contacting my new HSA provider. According to them, since the money was in my account for five days before the check bounced, they have to report it as a distribution, even though I didn't receive anything. I'm not sure what I should do now; I will probably try calling my new HSA provider aga...

Re: HSA rollover returned non-sufficient funds, tax issues

So.....does anyone have any ideas as to how to handle the tax implications of this issue? I have a feeling no one (myself, the HSA administrator, even the IRS) knows the answer.

HSA rollover returned non-sufficient funds, tax issues

I have an unusual HSA tax situation that hopefully someone can assist with. Last year I opened a second HSA in order to access better investment choices than are available in the HSA provided by my employer. I wrote a check for around $36k from my original HSA to rollover to my new HSA. This amount ...
