I use TD Ameritrade for my HSA through HSA Bank. Although they used to offer commission-free trading for many Vanguard ETFs, their current menu offers numerous choices of commission-free ETFs/mutual funds that are still consistent with a Boglehead philosophy.

With a 30 year time horizon, I would put it all into equities. Over that time span, you should come out way ahead over a 100% bond portfolio. Just my .02.
TDA has several commission-free, low cost stock market index funds to choose from.

Guys - your local library has a subscription to WSJ. You can read it online with an app any time you want for free. Nothing could be more bogleheady, except the Luddites. I like to do the crosswords and other puzzles they have in the Saturday edition. I think the library would frown upon that, even...

I also prefer the print edition, and I was able to renew last October at around $140 for the year. We'll see how much they try to increase that next month when my renewal comes due. Absolutely! I also convert as much as I can from my TIRA into my Roth to fill up the lowest tax bracket in an effort to reduce my RMDs which will start in 12 years.

I bought SPYV last week in my TD Amertirade account. Trades commission-free, and expense ratio is .15%. GVAL expense ratio is .68%, for comparison.

I believe the most current thesis on this issue is to pare back stock holdings as you approach retirement, in an effort to reduce sequence of returns risk. After you've been retired for a few years, the advice is to gradually ramp up the stock holdings to a level that you are comfortable with.

Perhaps one of the reasons this crime is becoming more frequent is that the perps realize that it is unlikely there will be any type of meaningful investigation. Billions of dollars is involved, not to mention the time and frustration factor on the victim side.

The bank will definitely have the perpetrator on their security camera, and likely on several, as he walked in, went to the teller, and then walked out. That would be where I would start. If the police don't respond, hire a private investigator. It'll be well worth it. FWIW, I never bring my wallet ...

One potential benefit to doing this is to reduce your RMDs down the road. Assets in a Roth 401k are included in that calculation, while assets in a Roth IRA are not included.
