Due to advice from a great member on this board I switched from Select Account (1.15% interest that was NOT FDIC insured, $4 a month maint fees) to a great Credit Union Connexus with NCUA insured $2 a month maintain fee AND 2% interest on my over $15,000 balance. This is our “rollover” HSA that I ju...

Select account Preimeraccount not FDIC covered

From a great prior thread I learned my old HSA holder Select Account does not have FDIC coverage for my $15,000 sitting in there. Its earning 1.15% without coverage and if I move it to another type of account their it will be FDIC insured and the "savings" rate will drop to 0.07%. Since this is my o...

not arguing semantics. And no you have not set out arguments that make any sense separating gold from Money, sorry.
(Love that stability of the FED having to own something from Bear Streans by the way)

Alfaspider your just purely wrong. Gold is Money. Telling someone Gold is not money is well good luck to you bro. This fact is immaterial on your opinion. Hate it or love it, it just is what it is. Funny how the Fed and other central banks around the world hold it and some that want a seat at the wo...

Re: Before buying gold, have a look at these returns since 1975

Amazing how everyone gets excited about Gold. Gold is Money, even Buffett in his little cute way understands this Everyone needs to remember that Gold is not an investment. Investments require a return on capital and a return OF capital. With gold you already have your capital in your hand. That's w...

I understand the mark up is crazy 300 to 400%. ( I remember in the 1980's, JCPenney and others had pages upon pages of gold jewelry for sell). Now you can't find anything and what I see is Stuff like 12 grams (10kt) light as a feather necklace at $1000!! Looking for a great solid gold rope necklace?...

My standby that I stock is the Glenfiddich Solera 15 year. Perfect for $35. I would love recommendations on sea spray Islays without the smokiness or peatiness. I can't stand my lagavullin Or laphroig. I tasted a Nikka 17yr which was a lot of fun. I am also always looking for good Ryes to make my M...

Re: Single Malt Scotch-time for another thread?

A couple of years ago I splurged during Super Bowl weekend and bought a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue. I believe I paid $170. I always wanted to know how it taste and most bars were charging $40 for a glass so I decided to buy a bottle instead. It was good, but it wasn't significantly better than J...

Yes I'm pissed with this purchase. But my main concern was the unsecured nature my my credit card. No regrets shutting it down. So now I see 3 ways these resolves 1. Guy comes back and we cancel the order (not likely given all the lawsuits and complaints) 2. They bill me for the order and we take it...

Re: Iowa Steak Company

Talk to your wife about not buying anything from a door to door salesman, try a to contact them for a return, if that fails, try a charge back, then if that fails enjoy your steak. Or it sounds like they took an old school paper credit card transaction and it never hit your account before you close...

I'm rather excited due to I just bought 11 shares of BRK-B. Kind of fun. It is the only stock I own and will never go above 5% of my total assets. Otherwise I'm a boring vanguard and fidelity index/Boglehead. As far as the side discussion of Gold (physical form of course) it plays many roles.....but...
