we will never see tax rates this low
on 234k income my federal taxes are around 38k, no state income tax
doing roth conversions or taking greater distributions to buy munis both seem prudent

use inter med term and long term corp bond as well as hi yield with vanguard and gnmae bond fund OR just put all bonds in total bond in ira accounts

I am 68 with 18% of 5.2 million in equities and I sleep like a baby. When you near retirement sequence of returns is critical and you should derisk your portfolio. When you win the game take most of the chips off the table unless you can withstand a yearly loss of 50% or a long period of stagnation ...

of course you need bonds in your portfolio at any time
there was a recent 30yr period where bonds returned on average about 8.5%
I bought 10yr cds a bunch of yrs ago at 5%. My buddy said then rates gotta go up

if you are a pt with a dental hmo, the cheapest plan with the worst payments to dentists, you might be hit with lots of upgrades, surcharges, etc etc they pay us like 6-7 bucks a month per pt to do most procedures we make money when pts do not show up ever but most docs do not take this CRAP! beware...

research will tell you a mix of taxable and ira withdrawals during retirement your modified agi will determine your medicare part b premiums so check that out as well most research states a 4% withdrawal rate and a stock portfolio between 30-70% will last forever you probably will see your portfolio...
