Re: CPO BMW 5 Series

Thank you to everyone that responded. Just wanted to let the responders know that I went ahead and purchased a CPO 2016 BMW 528xi with 23,450 miles for $21,181 from my local BMW dealer. I was able to secure an additional $750 off the original quoted price by financing over 60 months through BMW at 2...

CPO BMW 5 Series

Forgive me in advance for posting another potential car purchase question, but I have been looking to buy a new or CPO sedan for several months. After test driving several vehicles from a few different manufacturers (Lexus ES 350, Mazda 6, Toyota Avalon, Toyota Camry) I am seriously considering a CP...

Looking for a new sedan.

I currently own a 2010 Infiniti G37x with 164,0000 miles on it. The car has been extremely reliable and enjoyable to drive, but I am ready for something different. I am looking for a new or certified preowned sedan in the 30-40k range with the latest safety features in addition to Apple Car Play and...

Re: travel agent for cruise and discounting

We take at least two cruises a year. Vacationstogo.com is our primary travel agent. In my experience, they regularly beat Costco in both price AND perks offered. I would give them a call if you are looking to book a cruise.

Re: 2012 Infinity G37 Sedan maintenance costs

I have 2010 Infiniti G37x that was purchased new in September 2010. It currently has 161,000 miles on it and is still in good condition. It has been a fantastic car, especially considering I live in the NYC area and the car has been subjected to harsh winters, numerous potholes and constant stop and...

Re: 2017 BMW X1 purchase

Saver007, interesting that you brought up the Honda CRV-Touring. I test drove the vehicle earlier this week. I did like the CRV, although I think I like the look and feel of the X1 a little more. However, Honda's reliability is certainly better than BMW in my opinion and repair costs would likely be...

Re: 2017 BMW X1 purchase

Thanks to everyone for the helpful replies. I do appreciate the fact that the BMW has a different feel than the vehicles I have previously owned. I am considering the extended warranty purchase even though this is something I have never done on any other automobile purchase. It seems like the cost o...

2017 BMW X1 purchase

I am considering the purchase of a 2017 BMW X1 AWD from my local BMW dealership. This is a leftover 2017 model with approximately 4000 miles on it. The car was used by the dealership as a loaner car for BMW customers having vehicles serviced at the dealership. The vehicle comes with a 3 year, 36,000...

Re: Concept2 Holiday Challenge (indoor rowing)

I also own a Concept2 and do 6-8 500 m intervals at about a 1:55 per 500 m pace. Approximately 30 strokes per minute. One minute rest between intervals. I agree with the above poster stating intensity is more important than length of the row.

Re: Fire Wife's Advisor and Incur Tax Hit or Stay The Course

Thanks to everyone for all the helpful responses. I was pretty confident most of you would recommend making the switch, but it helps to actually see the feedback when making this kind of decision. As some of you suggested, we could simply fire the advisor and save the 1% right off the bat, but I wou...

Fire Wife's Advisor and Incur Tax Hit or Stay The Course?

My wife of 13 years has a mid 6 figure taxable managed investment account dating from before we were married. For the last 9 years, she has used an advisor with one of the large brokerage firms. He has constructed a fairly well-diversified portfolio, with roughly 2/3 in equities and 1/3 in fixed inc...

Re: Getting deposed -- do I need to hire my own lawyer?

I would lay low until you receive a deposition notice or subpoena from the other company. Since your former employer initiated the lawsuit, I would not go to the expense of hiring your own attorney. Are you in the same state as where the case is filed? If not, if may be difficult to compel your test...

Wow, thanks for all the rapid responses. Since some of you are asking for additional information, let me supplement my response with some additional information. Vanguard Personal Advisor Services Portfolio Recomendation

My 73 year old mother recently moved two low 6 figure investment accounts from a high fee Wells Fargo Advisors managed account to Vanguard. I thought she might potentially benefit from having a managed account with Vanguard, so I scheduled a conference call with Vanguard and my mom to discuss invest...

Re: DFA Fidelity

I just moved some DFA Funds from Index Fund Advisors to Vanguard within the last month. I was informed you are now allowed to hold DFA Funds in a Vanguard Brokerage Account. It is my understanding that the policy just changed this past November. I am unable to purchase new DFA Funds, but I can reinv...
