Re: Have a saved enough to retire?

I am in good health and my parents lived until their late 80's.

I could live well into my 80's and I just don't want to run out of money.

my retirement plan is to take SS at age 70 when it will be about $ 2,200/month.

Re: Have a saved enough to retire?

the part time job is very secure. if anything changes, it is likely to be my net pay of $ 300 a month.

Re: Have a saved enough to retire?

the timeshare is about $ 800 a year for dues. I inherited it. I use it about every other month and enjoy it with family and friends. the timeshare allows about 10 nights a year at a variety of locations. don't have to use it for a week at the same location

Re: Have a saved enough to retire?

I would continue working the part time job until age 65 if possible.

when I say retire, I mean no full time job. I have worked full time since age 22 after graduating from college in engineering. the shop I was working at closed 1/31/2015.

seems odd not to be working full time.

Re: Have a saved enough to retire?

my mortgage interest rate is less than 4% and I was working full time up until 1/31. I wasn't going to pay it off if I did go back to full time work.

Have a saved enough to retire?

Have I saved enough to retire? I am single, 50 years old, no children, work part time for medical and dental benefits plus net about $ 300 a month. I own a townhouse (worth about $ 225K) and have about $ 48K left on my mortgage at less than 4% interest rate. My HOA dues are $ 325.00. I own outright ...

Re: Land - Me or my Neighbor

thanks for the replies and additional information.

I don't know if the neighbor knows I am maintaining it. I never see them over there. they may not even really know its their property as they have lived there since 1978. We have lived here since 1982 and have maintained it the entire time.

Re: Land - Me or my Neighbor

(Is there some reason your neighbor was not maintaining the land?)

the land is closer to me. it is land I view daily from my back window.

it is in the back of my neighbors property. Im concerned that my neighbor will not maintain the property. out of sight, out of mind to them.

Re: Land - Me or my Neighbor

thanks for the replies.

it is bare land. people walk through it and kids play ball on it. there are no signs stating that it is private property.

by maintaining it, I cut the grass, light the area, lay barkdust periodically

Land - Me or my Neighbor

I have been maintaining an area of land near my house and I just found out it is owned by my neighbor and not me. Our entire neighborhood uses this land and I am fine to continue maintaining it but if there is an injury on the property, who is responsible?

HOA Townhouse Reserve Amount

We have a townhouse that we have owned for 11 years. The complex has 12 units, 3 buildings of 4 units, and was built in 1979. They are nice, well maintained and in a desirable area in Oregon. All 12 are occupied; all by their owners as the CC&R's don't allow renters. What is a proper amount to have ...
