The 7 day SEC yield is "AVERAGE ANNUALIZED INCOME DIVIDEND OVER THE PAST 7 DAYS.

No QRDO was entered with the recent divorce decree. They had a legal separation 4 years ago, and she then received 1/2 of his IRA. She is still the designated beneficiary of his 1/2 of the IRA and of his 401k account. The question is whether there is a QDRO "equivalent" in a legal separation. Were the accounts divided so that she actually received qualified-plan and IRA assets still "wrapped" inside tax-deferred accounts? Hi all, I am 28 years old. I have been following the Boglehead way for planning my investments. I was using Fidelity PPA for managing my 401k, however I noticed they charged crazy fees. New Vanguard 3 fund participant. I am almost 79, wife is 76. Our SS, pension, IRA and VA disability income provides for pretty much all of our needs. The taxable invested portion is a 35/60/5 allocation (equity, bond, cash). Currently in VTSAX, VTIAX and VBTLX. I am an engineer and my wife is a behavioral therapist for kids with special needs. Unfortunately, neither of us have a pension (they're mostly gone these days it seems!), but will be eligible for Social Security benefits. In terms of tax-deferred accounts, I rolled my old 401(k) and new Roth 401(k) together when I began at my new company. However, it appears that Fidelity is smart enough to know which funds are earmarked as "Roth" and "Pre-Tax" within the account. My old 401(k) was traditional and I believe all employer contributions into the 401(k) are tax-deferred. That would put "tax-deferred" monies at ~$165k between the 401(k) and HSA accounts. For someone who wants something safe and highly liquid as part of their fixed income allocation I suggest a very safe money market fund, like Vanguard Cash Reserves Federal Money Market Fund Admiral Shares (VMRXX), current SEC Yield = 4.55%.

I also suggest using Fidelity® U.S. Bond Index Fund (FXNAX) in your 401k account.

Bonds have had a low correlation with stocks, NOT a negative correlation.

My rationale is that the G fund is zero risk and so this would let me tweak the remainder of my portfolio towards riskier investments, while keeping my overall risk the same. I suggest #3, international in your large 401k (69% of total portfolio), for simplicity. Reallocating now and future rebalancing can simply be by exchanging between funds inside the 401k.

In my opinion 20% of stocks in international stocks is within the range of what is reasonable. Blackrock EAFE Equity Index Fund is a reasonable choice, or you can also add an emerging markets fund if you wish.

I also suggest Vanguard Tax-Managed Balanced Adm (VTMFX).

Why bother.

More investments does not equal more diversification. More concentrated investments is the opposite of diversification.

No cash "in portfolio". The only cash is whatever happens to be in my checking account, it varies, currently about 0.25% of the portfolio.

Total bond VBTLX includes mortgage-backed securities, of which roughly a third are GNMAs. Another difference is that VBILX holds intermediate bonds only, while VBTLX achieves an intermediate average duration but also holds short-term and long-term instruments.
