With a taxable bond fund I heard it is much more complicated reporting the income even if deposited back into fund as each is a taxable event?

I think condo 2 would work fine.
If building equity in a home you don't also need to keep saving at the same rate you are saving now.
To me personally, safety is a must and no way no how would I buy in a unsafe neighborhood. That trumps money.
