A tip to remember the score - make note of the first server on each team. Then, if that person is in the deuce court, that team's score will be even. Otherwise, it will be odd. Applies to both teams.

+1 on the Nesbo books. I believe there are Norwegian movies based on his novels now.

Re: How much money do I need in retirement?

The http://www.ssa.gov site gave me a retirement benefit estimate of $2550 at age 67.
Is this estimate in today's dollars? Will I get an inflation adjusted benefit at age 67?
I am currently 35 years old.

Re: Book recommendation: parenting

I read a lot of books but never considered reading a book after I had my kids. My kids are now 6 and 4 and I agree with Livesoft's advice. When a child is young he or she does not understand the consequences of their action and punishment does not help. As the kid gets closer to 3 years old, it becomes important to set expectations, and follow through with any punishments. Both my kids went through a Montessori daycare system and we found the Montessori education system to be very helpful. I find the Montessori philosophy to be very practical and also the teachers are very helpful in understanding the various stages of a child's development. I think it is much more important to know your kid and if you always act in the kid's best interest ...

Re: E-reader for Mom (86 years old)?

I bought the Kindle Touch and Nook Simple Touch and ended up keeping the Nook. The Nook was easier to hold and seemed lighter than the Kindle, however, I don't think there is real weight difference.

The in-store support for a Nook at any B&N store might be selling point for your mom. Nook also allows you to read any book inside a B&N store for an hour.

Both Kindle and Nook e-readers are good devices and very similar in functionality.

OP, try to imagine that your doctor tells you that you and your spouse can never have kids. The decision has now been taken out of your hands. How will this make you feel? Will you be sad or relieved? This may help answer your questions.

IMHO, the decision to have kids is entirely personal to you and everybody else's experience and opinions are largely irrelevant. You have to ask yourself some hard questions about your ability and willingness to raise a kid.

I passed the PMP exam two days ago. The test was a little bit grueling as it was 200 questions; however, there was more than enough time to answer the questions.

PMI is changing the PMP exam starting in September, so the course material and requirements for taking the exam will change from what they are now.

I am in IT project management and I decided to get the PMP certification because I saw a few friends benefit greatly from it when they were looking to change jobs.

Good luck with the preparation if you decide to take the test. I studied with the PMBOK and the Head First PMP book.

Thanks,
Vivek

Hi Munchkin Man,

Try this - soak the almonds in a cup of water overnight and eat them in the morning. Almonds will be softer and more flavorful.

I have a daughter entering 1st grade in August and we have decided to augment school learning with Math tutoring at Enopi. Enopi is a program similar to the Kumon program.

Do people have any experience with Kumon/Enopi? Any opinions on the benefit of tutoring programs like these?

"In the Plex" by Steven Levy.

It has interesting information about the origins of Google and the technical problems that the company solved. It gives a good idea of the lead that Google has over other search engines and the reasons why Google succeeded in dominating the internet.
