Re: Should I sell my BMW?

I think the answer depends on if you are financially independent yet. I would have a hard time owning a luxury vehicle while still a slave to my 9-5. I would also point out that the ability for a human to travel 70mph is definitely a luxury. Whether that is done in a Civic or BMW is silly & superflu...

Re: Is a Roth dollar worth 1.525 times a taxable dollar?

I think most people considering a Roth are comparing it to a regular IRA rather than taxable account investing. Assuming you don't need the gains out before full retirement age, a Roth seems like an easy win against a taxable account (no tax on growth, better asset protection in legal judgment s, a...

A better analogy for the ketogenic diet would be weekly investment mailers stating they have a "system" which can beat the market. Re: Ketogenic Diet anyone?

There is no such thing as a diet, in my mind. Either you change your eating behaviors permanently or you don't. Diets are a fraud because they presuppose an exit plan, a safe withdrawal rate, if you will. metabolism doesn't work this way. To your last point, the word "diet" has two meanings. I wish...

What a lay person must understand (and most don't) is the disconnect between marketing and clinical competence. In my experience, the correlation between someone being marketed as a good physician/clinic/hospital and how they actually perform clinically is very close to 0. Top notch physicians often...
