Re: Stats on When People Take Social Security

With Stocks going up. I can do a bigger Roth and use my Ira to live on also. If we get a bad hit. I will start using my SS and save my Ira. The SS is a good back up. I'm 65 and have 2.5m but live on 60000. I feel I'm in a good spot. If I die young wife will still be ok.

What if you had 50k in debt but an extra 50k in savings? You'd be in exactly the same position. Obviously if you had $50k in debt and blew it on something, different story. I'm 65 we have 5 cars. All old but run will not sell but will take it to junk yard some day. All are paid for age range 72 to 2018. Always bought new and ran into ground. We rent when we travel. When I buy new and pay $30000 I'm really looking at 20 years which meant about 1500 a year.

On SS should you still wait until 70? With tax's going up in 10 years. I'm 64 but with the low tax of 12%. I'm converting money to my Roth from my Ira.
SS-65-1500

Roth will have about 300000 plus 2m Ira. At 70.
