I normally don't get sad when someone famous that I didn't know personally dies, but this news took the wind out of me. I am going to miss having Jack in the world. He was a genuinely good person.

No. My early retirement plan included being able to live off monthly and quarterly dividend payments. If anything, I have had some excess dividends over the years I have been able to reinvest somewhere. I am 55 now and this has been going on for the last 10 years. Basically the duration of the bull...

I'm not interested in news, beyond what I get here. Everything I would care to read is in books, or makes it there soon enough. Being good enough to get published is a small filter that at least keeps out (some of) the worst stuff.

Re: How much of a dip do you want before you TLH?

With index funds you may not know the net asset value at the end of the day, so you need to find an analogous ETF or index and watch that towards the close of the market; if it looks like it is going to end down with only a few minutes to go, put in the order(s) to TLH. In my experience, you want at...

Is the EMH "true"? Maybe, maybe not. But in terms of making investment decisions, the most rational thing to do is behave as if it were true.

Or to put it another way, I personally do not think it is technically "true", but I do believe that it is beneficial to consider it as up it were true.
