The installer is here and got it settled on the concrete blocks. He says it's going well.

Final update, as I know people like conclusions. The heater is installed, filled, and heating. They had to replace the T-junction for the flue, so a few extra bucks. Not too bad, $1500 all in.

Re: Can I do both backdoor Roth and mega backdoor Roth?

If the earnings are small, it's best to just pay the tax and roll the entire Mega Backdoor distribution into the Roth IRA. If you had a lot, and your plan allowed, you could roll them back into the plan. You could also convert the earnings along with the non-deductible TIRA contribution, but that's ...

As noted, you're mixing up terms. The after-tax contributions in the Mega Backdoor are not Roth. Roth contributions are combined with pretax and limited to 18.5k currently. The after-tax is in addition to that, amount limited by the overall plan limits of 55k (combined with employer contributions). ...

Re: Mechanisms for disappearance of factor premia -- how does it work for momentum?

Depends on why the factor exists. With small and value, many believe that most or all of the factor is risk-related. If so, then that should not be arbitraged away regardless of how well known. If it is, then that in itself is an exploitable inefficiency. After all, the outperformance of stocks over...
