Re: Cheap Caribbean [add-flights, cut price in half... too good to be true?]

allinclusiveoutlet.com has more options for the rooms which match actual hotel naming conventions, makes me feel a bit better. They come out to a similar $2900 including car transport ($120 value) and decent flights (a non-stop on way there). I'll have to read up on reviews and also for interest sa...

With the mortgage amortization schedule you are paying most of that interest in the beginning anyway.

I would say that a good majority of 20 somethings live closer to downtown - Uptown, Design District (where I'm at), Deep Ellum, Oaklawn, Mockingbird, Bishop Arts; however, most of these areas have poorly rated schools. Also, they are all safe, but definitely closer to the higher crime areas around ...

Re: Uber, Lyft, or car-for-hire from Seattle Airport?

Wife and I were in Seattle in October. At the time, and likely still now, Uber wasn't allowed to pickup in the airport. You had to have a certificate or something that only the cab companies would pay for. A lot of the cabs are also ubers, which was strange and a bit confusing. The cabs have fixed r...

Looks like another factor in favor of ETF's? If the investor "herd" all head for the exits in an index ETF the fund would be dissolving creation units but (I think) would not be selling appreciated securities where the realized gains would be passed through to the remaining shareholders? There was ...

Maxing 401k as quickly as possible?

I am contemplating maxing out my wife's 401k quickly in 2016. This year she hit the contribution limit in September. I would be shooting for the max by March for next year. Here are my thoughts on why this would be alright: 1) We are without a mortgage for the 1st quarter as we are staying with in l...

Be sure to back up everything somewhere. Raid 0 is has 4x the probability of failure since there isn't any redundancy. if one drive corrupts or fails, the whole array will be kaput.
