I set it on a comfortable temperature, recirculate on, no vents blowing directly on me, and seldom touch it again. When I do adjust something, it is almost always only the target temperature unless I have hit some button accidentally.

Notify your insurance company. They ask if you have pets for a reason. I can't imagine notifying my insurance agent for adding a Havanese to my household. But I do enjoy living on the edge. One other thought re: your trip planning. We left North Conway on Columbus Day. Huge mistake--the traffic heading back to the East Coast cities was horrendous. Other than that, we didn't encounter as much traffic as we anticipated except near Roanoke VA on the BRP.
