Re: Roll Call for the Retirement Class of 2018!

Friday, June 29th was my last day, 33 years with the company. I go back in to tidy up a couple of things but that’s all folks! It was a great career. It’s time for my schedule.

Re: Do you wear a wedding band? [at a job interview]

I don’t wear a wedding ring. I lost a finger as a teenager when a wire ring I had slipped over my index finger caught on a stake body truck as I jumped off. Unfortunate childhood accident but I’m not having that happen again. I hope.
The wire ring had keys.

Re: Roth 401k into Roth IRA

Thanks to each of you. I will run the comparison of
Roth 401k vs regular 401k again. This forum has educated me and helped me prepare for the next chapter tremendously.

Roth 401k into Roth IRA

2018 is the first I have access to a Roth 401k. I plan to fully fund it, $24500 and roll it into my established Roth IRA when I retire in June 2018 at 63. Will this limit my access to this money sooner than 5 years out? Or just the rollover amount? My plan is to use these Roth funds as my last money...

Re: The fallacy of spending money on "experiences" vs hard assets

Maybe the song “Are You Experienced?” is right. The song is about open mindedness and outlook on life in general. It's about being able to look at things from every perspective.

Re: Sous Vide?

I have a temp controller Auber Instruments that I use wth a Crock Pot. It has to be an old fashioned model, off, low, high settings not an electronic switch type. It works great. I have a couple of other products from this company, good quality. Auberins.com Economic PID Controller for Sous Vide, Co...

Re: 23 year old... Can I afford a Rolex?

I know this is an old thread but I wish I could have read it years ago. Maybe it would have stopped me from a couple of boneheaded purchases. This forum is wonderful.

Re: Which grocery stores do you shop at and why?

I find my Target has very few things I want and I only go to Walmart as a last resort, for anything.
60% Publix
20% Costco, bulk items, they have good beef I buy whole NY strips
10% Bi-Lo
5% Piggly Wiggly
5% Aldi's

Special occasions I but desserts at Whole Foods.
