I have a 5% allocation to the Vanguard REIT (VGSLX), and will continue rebalancing, as indicated, per my IPS. I expect it to continue working well as a long term portfolio diversifier. No market timing for me, despite the rising interest rate environment.

Thanks! This looks like the best CD rate since the Andrews Federal deal ended earlier this year. GTE only has a "B" financial rating at DepositAccounts, but they've been around a long time in the Tampa Bay area. The add-on option is also a nice perk.

The gas grid relies on electric pumps to maintain pressure and integrity - once optimum pressure was lost the gas lines had ice crystallization in many places and it took weeks to get them back online. We had this exact situation a couple years ago. Turns out our son (who lives in D.C.) had gotten a free WSJ subscription offer and submitted our address, thinking we'd get more use out of it than he would! We thanked him, but told him to cancel the free trial before he'd start getting billed.

If, by chance, you are getting new appliances all the way around, another option is to get something like a GE Advantium (microwave, convection oven combo). We have a GE Monogram gas range (with large single oven), and use the Advantium as a secondary oven (occasional use).

Why sell if you're in retirement? Anybody holding them knows that REITS are volatile, but their lesser correlation with equities is why we hold them in a buy and hold (and rebalance) strategy. Even in retirement, one should plan for a 30+ year time frame.

We love our Kohler (Indio) sink. However, stay away from the newfangled faucets with electronic "touch on-off." We bought a Brizo faucet with that feature, and it's been a nightmare. After failing three times in 3 years, we gave up, and had a plumber bypass the electronic on-off.
