Re: Best men’s multivitamin for 40+

If supplements are a waste, then are they added to our food supply?

Iodine to salt
B vitamins to all wheat products
Vitamin D to milk and orange juice

I recommend pure encapsulations ONE multivitamin. The only thing needed besides this is magnesium citrate or glycinate. The cheapest way to improve your health!

NOW brand supplements are very good as well.

We retired at age 55 just over 2 years ago. We started to travel and spend money but now that has come to a halt. Covid, covid go away, do not come back another day!

Now we are looking at a lifestyle change and perhaps buying a second home. We will be spending the month of November in the Villages, Florida and then 3 weeks in Daytona Beach Shores in February to check out active over 55 places.

Re: Why not Vanguard U.S. Growth Fund?

Why not Vanguard U.S. Growth Fund (VWUAX)? This fund has consistently outperformed the S&P and VTSAX. The ER isn't bad for being an actively managed fund. It is not the most tax efficient (41% turnover), so it would best be positioned in a tax advantaged account. Why not hold VWUAX along with VTSAX? On that same note, how about its international cousin, Vanguard International Growth Fund (VWILX)? This one also outperforms VTIAX consistently as well. Is there anyone who holds this fund in their portfolio? -TheDDC U.S. Growth is among the worst still-surviving funds Vanguard ever offered. The question should be answered with whether retirees who keep cash reserves have income from sources like SS, annuities and pensions. Guaranteed income stream every month makes a difference which is not dependent on fluctuations of the market.

Some of us are retired and totally dependent on income from a fluctuating market.

You can cut the whole stems, tie it up and hang in a window to dry. Once dry, crumble leaves into a container and use as dried basil in recipes.

We spent 40k on a camper and SUV to tow it. We had the camper for 9 yrs and SUV for 12 yrs; 10k back on sale of both. So 30K for camping experiences during the precious formative years of raising ours sons. Those years and experiences cannot be duplicated at a later time.

We spent 30K on our yard - pool, fencing, landscaping. All for fun with our family. Little children splashing and laughing are stuck in my head.... Those children are grown.

Balancing spending and saving was always well thought out for us. It wasn’t easy to balance, as it still isn’t today as we look to spending down our nest egg for hopefully the next 40 years (starting this year, age 55).

No, keep your cars. Taking on debt and/or not saving in your early years is a mistake because of loss of compounding on your money. Get a new car after you buy the house and after you have kids, not now. Camry is a good car.

We have a Toyota Camry v6 2005 with 140k miles or so. We put money into it at about 100k (timing belt, brakes, tires) and it’s good. We hope to keep it another 3-5 yrs or major work which doesn’t make it worthwhile.
