FWIW the SSD does NOT have to be the same size as the HDD you are cloning. The cloning software now is smart enough to clone based on the amount of data on the HDD (if it is less than the size of the target SSD). I have done it. Copy photos, videos, music, games. etc, all the sort of stuff you woul...

Re: Why not aim for a HIGH YIELDING portfolio?
Isn't there a case to be made to construct a portfolio that has a higher yield than what index funds pay? VTSAX pays only 1.84%. If I wanted an annual income of $80,000 I'd need $4.2 million in a portfolio yielding 1.9%. But you'd only need $842,105 from a portfolio yielding 9.5%. Of course, you'd ...

Re: Larry Swedroe: 3% is the new 4%
It’s hard to believe anybody takes 3% seriously. If you were only trying to match inflation (i.e., 0% real return), you could get 33.3 years of spending. Essentially, 3% is saying you would lock in a negative return over 30 years. I think this is beyond pessimism and is downright fear mongering. No...

Speaking just to a safe withdrawal for a 75 year old. Tom Kitces wrote a paper back in 2012 where he came up with 5.3% for a 20 time frame. 4% is for 30 years. If you want a margin of error 4.75% would probably work. You can always adjust the % depending on returns of your portfolio. https://www.kit...

If the vallue premium is larger, you win. Also, if there's a quality premium going forward, you win again, since DFA screens out j...
