Not sure if this has occurred with anyone else, but Better had me pay the appraisal fee as a deposit at the time of rate lock even though my appraisal is likely to be waived. Is this common with Better? If I walk away am I out the appraisal fee deposit?

I was able to lock with LoanDepot on a no cash refi - 15 yr 2.5% on a 310k balance. I am coming from 2.875% with LoanDepot that I refied back in Dec. Below are my details. They only offered this after I sent them an LE from LenderFi which was similar to below but had a net of about $200 cost to clo...

Thanks for the advice. First step is finding out if the wife's plan allows incoming rollovers. If that doesn't work, sitting down with the wife to start divorce proceedings... ;-)
