Wow, Brian and Al thanks for mentioning Welltrade. That does look pretty interesting. Maybe i could set up an account there and keep the balance where I am at. Im realizing that i do love the Vanguard Funds/ETF's because of the pro way they are run and the low expenses. I'm seeing that i dont necess...

Considering move from Fidelity to Vanguard

Ive been with Fido for many years, pretty happy with them overall. Why change? Joey again

well after Rob replied to my original question everyone changed the subject to TIPS. I look at the vanguard TIP fund year to date LOSS of 5.57% and the 5 year rate of 3.64% which pales in comparison to the 5.5% GUARANTEED i would get. I dont think ANYONE can assure me that Tips will beat 5.5% over 1...

Mel, etc. Is this CD good deal?

Hi my bond portion of my IRA has generally been with vanguard total bond market or in my 401K Pimco total return in which Bill Gross generally beats the lehman index by 0.5 per year over most 5-10 year periods. I just noticed i can get a 10 year CD in my IRA- this is a call-protected CD paying 5.5% ...

What about the value premium?

Does it make sense to tilt TSM with small value fund still?

Or to add large value and small value to those blend categories?

Ive had mine set up like that for awhile. It seems over the long term
the blend and value components end up with the same return over time.

Mel/ Larry Question on TIPS

In a tax-advantaged account, how would you compare buying the Vanguard Inflation Protected Securities fund or the TIP ETF vs buying the individual securities? Would i get most of the TIPS benefit with the fund or ETF instead of buying at auction?

Buy ETF with very low trading volume??

Had a question about ETF's. I wanted to buy the new Ishares EAFE Small cap fund (SCZ) to complement EAFE holding. I noticed the trading volume is extremely low, near zero. I feel strongly that ishares will ultimately succeed with the ETF. My general question is what are the pitfalls of owning an ETF...

40% Financials in value index- should I be concerned?

Ive been looking for a good passive international value index. The ETF "Ishares EAFE value" index fits my bill, (symbol EFV) low expense at .40, heavy value lean, index fund with around 600 holdings. Has everything i want but i noticed the financials % is 40% of the fund. Wow that seems kinda high. ...
