We set up credit card alerts through text and email for all purchases, no matter how much the amount. It gives you real time account information. I have caught several fraudulent charges within seconds, and contacted my credit card issuer. In most cases they also knew. Easy to do.

When my wife and I applied for Medicare, SSA looked to our previous federal tax return from 2 years. That pushed us into the top IRMAA tier. We will not have MAGI at that previous level in retirement, so we submitted the “Life changing Event” appeal form with documentation from our previous employer...

Stihl Backpack blower... The local hardware store couldn’t sell it because of its high price, So I got a big discount. I have other Stihl equipment also.

Most higher end backpack blowers blow like a Hurricane. Makes quick work of cleaning up the yard and driveway....

I rolled my 401-K into a Traditional IRA after retirement at age 62 and have been taking distributions from it since then. This was a strategic move in order to spend down my IRA to reduce my RMDs at age 70.5. I have also done some Roth conversions.

Planning to take SS at age 70.

My first Medicare bill was for the nominal amount, then they caught up and sent the revised bill. I was able to get the IRMAA appeal approved later. All of this took (5) months.

We also stopped reconciling a check register years ago with the advent of on line accounts. We have email and text alerts for all activities on all of our accounts. We also review all accounts weekly.
