GEICO is part of the warren buffet empire, so wouldnt surprise me that it is built for profits, thats what he does - finds ways to make money - and i presume that is waht the shareholders want. but always theres an option to switch

I dont know what happened in 2015 or 2016, but seems like things have gotten better for the economy since then. Jobs everywhere. But for the OP, the crash was scary and people are still affected. Foreclosures, debt, lost years and lost experience.

impossible to know what will happen in the future past performance doesnt matter, and doesnt affect the future Hence, best bet is to diversify across bonds, stocks, and intl, and hedge one's bets Savings rate is more important - doesnt matter if US or intl does better or worse, if you only invest 1%...

The level of frugality is interesting, but some get paid more per hour to work at their job then to work at saving some dollars on making food etc. So every minute of time can have an ROI. Saving and spending are less important than ROI, and the value of your time in achieving other income.

seems to me, the investment in 60/40 return, is less important than the amount one invests. if one doesnt save and limit lifestyle, or enhance income, then 60/40 wont work. Neither will 100 % stock. To make the math work, one has to save early and often if one's income stays pace only with inflation...

It all depends on how much one has.
If one has 40-50x expenses, no harm in being more into stocks.
if one is at 25x, then maybe it depends on whether or not you think stocks are going ito increase or decrease

if risk tolerance changes, it is normal to rebalance to a different asset allocation. Happens all the time. No one should take more risk than they are comfortable with. Good luck.

if one is close to achieving a 0% failure on firecalc, does one adjust allocation to very conservative?
if so, and one continues to work, does one invest future earnings in 100% equities, as it is for inheritance or philanthropy, not for the original owner?

The continued problems with IT at vanguard indicate a major lack of concern and failure at their leadership level. The complaints have gone on for years, and the system remains unreliable and worrisome - this happens when leadership doesnt really care about it
