I used to work a stressful tech job but changed industries and moved into defence. 9 to 5 only and the deadlines are not as stressful. Pay isn't as good as fang but lower cost of living area.

I've been to a few of these when they are sponsored by my employer. It just seems like a party with a number of FA, insurance salesmen and the like trying to find clients. I wouldn't pay to attend one of those unless I work in that type of position.

I've used Billfixer and had a good experience. I call up my cable provider myself and got them to reduce my bill by $10 a month. Then I sicked BillFixer on them and they got me a month of free service.

The financial nightmare is dying young with young children. Get a 1M for 20 years. If you pass away after 62 you should have enough in your 401K for your family to be fine.

I remember in 2007 a coworker who labeled bottles for a living and worked as a line cook at chuck e cheese on the weekends bought a ~$600K house zero down. In April of this year I sold my condo to a person who put $4,000 down on a $330K condo. Maybe the bubbling is going to burst again.

I moved out of the area when selling my house and my RE agent took care of the fixing up of the house so I didn't have to. He earned his commission. Redfin and the like will push out a lot of bad RE agent or one unwilling to adapt and learn.

Remind your dad that even though he may be judgment proof he will still have to hire a lawyer to help enforce those laws. Lawers are much more expensive than insurance.

The nightmare with employer life insurance is getting a fatal injury or illness and getting let go from your job and being unable to renew the life insurance.

Same with only getting a term life insurance that has to be renewed every two years, if you get sick or hurt you won't be able to renew it.
