Rollover to Roth: incr. MAGI? Can Donation Offset that?

Hi. Does the income from converting a Rollover IRA to a Roth IRA count towards the MAGI income limit of $124K (single) for making a Roth Contribution? (FYI: I have already made my 2020 Roth IRA Contribution. I want to make sure I don’t bump into the $124K MAGI limit if I do a Roth Conversion this ye...

Prudential Guaranteed Interest Account (Fact Sheet): Rate: "Interest Crediting Structure: The GIA's annual effective interest crediting rates are announced in advance, are gu...

How does a Div ETF (NOBL) score "4" out of 5 on Tax Efficiency? Where to put 5 funds?

Hi. I have limited space left in my qualified accounts, but would like to add NOBL to my holdings. Can I add it to to a non-retirement account or would that be a bad idea because high dividend funds kick off dividends/income (yes?) which will be taxed at income tax levels? I was surprised to see tha...

How to Reduce Number of Funds while rebalancing Portfolio and keeping Income low?

Hi. I am at long last trying to reduce the number of funds that I have and re-balance my Portfolio at the same time, while being careful not to generate too much income. (May not be an issue with current market declines.) It appears I have too much in international and not enough in bonds (Ha! my ti...

Re: Hyper Tax Efficient Funds

What about Vanguard Tax-Managed Capital Appreciation Fund Admiral Shares (VTCLX)? Would that fit the bill? (And if I may ask, why or why not, because I am in the same boat and trying to minimize income, in my case so I can stay below the Roth IRA income cap for 2020.) Thanks.

Re: In what order: Convert TIRA, Rollover, and 403b funds to ROTH IRA? Amounts? $100K

1) Multiple Roth conversions per year are permitted. Roth conversion income is not included in the MAGI for the purposes of Roth IRA contributions. While Roth conversions do increase your AGI, they do not increase your MAGI for Roth IRA purposes. 2) Do you have state income tax? 3) Do you have asse...

Re: In what order: Convert TIRA, Rollover, and 403b funds to ROTH IRA? Amounts? $100K

Agree with DSInvestor. Roth conversions do increase AGI and taxable income but are subtracted out when calculating the MAGI for contributing to Roth IRA. You can do as many Roth conversions as you want in a year. They are not included in the "once per year" count. I have a mish-mash of IRAs (Traditi...

In what order: Convert TIRA, Rollover, and 403b funds to ROTH IRA? Amounts? $100K

I have accumulated a number of eligible funds to convert to a ROTH IRA. Believing that a ROTH IRA is the best place to put money, how and when should I transfer about $100K of eligible funds into my Roth? I have the following funds to convert to a ROTH: TIAA Traditional IRA: $6K Fidelity Rollover IR...

Do you have to pay a Transfer Tax on transferring NYC Coop Apt to Revocable Living Trust?

Hi. I have owned my Coop apartment in NYC for the past 20 years and would like to transfer it to my Revocable Living Trust (so that my heirs may avoid lengthy probate, etc.) I was told by the Coop's lawyer that I would need to complete a "NYC & NYS Real Property Transfer Tax Returns" at the time of ...

Re: How hard is it to transfer a Roth IRA to Vanguard?

BTW: In order to avoid the $50 "closure" fee from Fidelity, you can move just part of the IRA to Vanguard. That way you can maintain some of the account history with Fidelity. But I have a question too--- does one have to sell positions to cash before moving them? Or can you transfer them in the fun...

Thanks. I do need to pare down the list! Thanks for the nudge, and the tip about using Spartan funds at Fidelity. Will do. Alas, I just found out that my 403b at Vanguard has closed the Vanguard 500 Index Fund . Question #1) Which of the below additional OPEN funds do you suggest I use in my 403b? B...

Portfolio Review? Which Funds to keep/lose in IRA vs. Reg?

Hi. I am probably like many people in that I have a mish-mash of positions, held in various accounts, but they should probably be streamlined and that’s where I could use some help. Most accounts are at Fidelity; my current 401K is at Vanguard, and I have a Roth IRA at Mutual of America. BTW: The Ro...
