HELOC

I have mortgage on my vacation home of $58K. I was thinking about opening Heloc on my main home taking out $60K and paying down my vacation home mortgage. My rate is 3.75%. Anyone knows how I can get helps for 2% or less?

Is it a good idea?

Why husband cant deduct? He doesnt have retirement plan at work and we are within limit i believe...

I know that roth is better but as i understand we are in the high bracket now so saving a lot in tax... :idea:

I was worried that i have to withdraw money before 12/31 but it looks like i can wait till year end and see if i am above or below income limit and withdraw money before April 15, if needed.

Welcome! My guess is that he won't go for bonds, either. Did you know that CDs can be used for IRAs? Perhaps this would be a good option. I had the same issue with Barclays. Paid my entire balance in dec when I still had promotion 0% till June, I believe. Next billing was charged $2 :D . Called them and they kindly reimbursed me 2$.
