If you plan on staying in your house for a while you might consider refinancing to a lower rate. Currently seeing 30 year fixed at 3.75% or better which would probably save you a $120ish a month. If not, maybe do the math as to what interest rate would convince you to refinance and keep and eye on r...

Re: Credit card sign on bonus suggestion

You could consider the Charles Schwab Amex Platinum. It does have a high annual fee of $450, but the initial sign on bonus will get you $750 worth of points that can be deposited directly to a Charles Schwab account. Also you will get $15 monthly in uber credits, $200 annually in travel incidental c...

So my mom and I are going in together on an investment with a business partner of hers. I prefer Lopez... much quieter than San Juan or even Orcas but has all services, decent restaurants, and some lovely beaches and hikes. Orcas would be my #2 choice... #1 if you want the hippie vibe (go to Doe Bay and soak in the hot springs). Biking is easier on Lopez though (much flatter). We've b...

I think the bleachers are a ton of fun. Last time I went I only spent 15 or 20 buying on stubhub. Obviously you can't see the game as well out there, but you obviously don't feel as obligated to stay in them all game either.

Anacortes is great. It's about 90 minutes to Seattle and has a ton of hiking and biking as well in the city's Forrest lands. There is also quite a few wineries and farms/farmers markets within 20-30 minutes. In addition, the weather up here is generally quite a bit sunnier and less rain than down so...

What state do you work/live in? And where are you from? You should be able to get out of paying state taxes by becoming a resident of a state that doesn't have them. It's as easy as asking your admin for the form and filling it out.

Just buy aapl if you are looking for a high risk investment with your money. Its down 30% from three months ago. Maybe you can get that 30% back in your timeframe. Conversely, maybe you'll lose 30%.

I'll let some others commet on everything as a whole, but my recommendation would be to put as much as you can into the Roth TSP rather than putting money aside for a separate Roth IRA since the TSP is so much cheaper than any option you will have for the IRA. if you want to tie up $5000 monthly, why not use the mango prepaid card that pays 6% on the $5000? it only has a $5 monthly fee which gives it a 4.8% effective yield on the money you have deposited, not what you spend.

You should look into a VA rate reduction(streamline). They can be done without an appraisal and usually with very little or no closing costs out of pocket.
