Play around with extra payments and see what that does.

Seems like bad advice from the loan advisor
Its not bad advice for everyone and is far from a scam. For people who have trouble saving and their home equity and maybe a 401k are their only real assets, it can be good advice. Anyone who makes it onto this forum likely doesn't need to do bi weekly payments though.

Re: Cancel Tesla order?

I have read that Teslas have some of the highest insurance costs for its category of vehicles. Why? They get totaled out with fairly little damage because there is no repair network. The neighbor behind me had one corner of his Tesla banged up during our December ice storms. Its been sitting in front of his house ever since. This would have been about 2 weeks in the shop with maybe a little extra time to wait because body shops were probably busy from the ice storm damage.

if you have the discipline and desire to pay extra towards your mortgage then don't bother with bi weekly payments, just pay your desired amount of extra principle each month automatically. Most people who are responsible with money probably prefer to budget monthly instead of per biweekly paycheck.

Does anyone know if you need to answer the question about what's your annual salary during the presentation? My wife and I don't discuss our salaries in front of the kid since we don't feel it's appropriate for them to learn that right now while they don't fully appreciate the value of money. We are debating whether to bring the kid (9 year old) you the presentation or let them check in to childcare during the presentation. The presentation we plan to attend in Mexico during our stay has a requirement for minimum annual salary of $60K, which we qualify. We were wondering if we can just leave the response as "our annual income is and the qualification limit" or will they push for more specific salary ranges. You don't have to say ...

Just about any time you bring your car into a shop they'll check for other things to sell you. Many times those items are legitimate, other times they'll identify parts that are worn but still have some life left,("you have 5mm left on your brake pads", that might be 10000 or more miles), more rarely will the shop outright lie.

The first fund I every bought was the Vanguard Wellesly. I read about it in one of those "top 10 fund" click bait articles. Did a little googling, checked its performance against benchmarks and said good enough. I think I also put a bunch of money into the vanguard dividend growth fund because it "looked good" After several months I ended up here and then put a more thoughtful core 4 portfolio together. So yeah some of that money can be invested by people who dont know what they are doing.

Uhaul is likely highly dependent on the franchise and if they have skilled employees or a manager that cares. In general most hitches arent that complicated to install or wire up but if the guy doing it doesnt care thats not good.

I have no experience with a store like Rack n Road but they might be more reliable.

You seem to have staying clean as your main concern. There are companies that will install a solid faux granite shower/bathtub so you have no grout and just seals at the corners. Otherwise if you have room for a full 3ft wide shower do that, its the best bathroom upgrade aside from possibly double sinks. I hate grout. Any recs on quality panels for a shower install? A tile installer (granted, he's biased) told me that the Bath Fitter liners can be problematic because if water gets behind it, it's trapped there, and mold will grow. I mean does it really matter if mold grows in essentially a nearly sealed off space? Mold will grow behind a bad tile job too... If the total time is too much and the work isn't fun I'll sub it out. Anything that I can do in a weekend isn't worth dealing with contractors for. Id replace a few windows but not the 14 that I needed replaced. No way am I redoing a roof. I have replaced a tile shower myself and I'd do it again for the cost savings. I've also built a full set of cabinet doors and several cabinets for a kitchen refresh. I like woodworking and would do that again for a kitchen remodel to save probably $20k to $30k.

Electrical and plumbing inst very difficult. Ive added my own circuits several times and modified other circuits many times.

(I happen to have my taxable brokerage account at Vanguard, but I hope the question makes sense.) The solvency of the bank or of Fidelity as a company has nothing to do with your investments aside from possibly the ease of which you have access to them via online accounts. Your investments are held for you by Fidelity. They actually exist and you own the risks associated with those investments. Re: Squeaky floor -- new construction home

Are you saying the cut outs in the joists for AC ducts are not large enough that the ducts could be rubbing against the joists, and resulting in squeaks? Cutting too big of a hole in a joist or cutting the hole in the wrong location could result in the joist becoming more flexible and more prone to squeaking in a number of places. Small holes for electrical wires or water supply lines aren't usually going to cause issues. But larger holes for HVAC or water drain lines could cause the issues, especially if the hole is not drilled in the center of the joist. There are codes for how/where to drill the holes depending on their size relative to the size of the joist. If you post the pictures, that might help. Squeaking under tiles is a bit more...

One big miss is that they dont account for train tracks. I now live about 100 yards from train tracks and while thr noise isnt that bad its noticeable when a train goes by. Aside from the train tracks i agree with the score for my new house.

Involving a repair person who may not return calls or have long waits in this mess seems like even more of a pain.

OP is the new gasket too stiff to seal properly or does it have kinks in it from shipping? Can you hit it with a hair dryer to make it seat better?
