Laurel Road / Mohela Student Loan Payment Not Applied

A few months ago my student loans were acquired from Laural Road to the new servicer Mohela. I have 3 loan payments all with auto-payment setup, and all 3 have been deducted from my bank account monthly consistently. I have received several notices that payments were missed and late fees would be applied. All of them show as being resolved when I login to my account, however one is still not applied. I've been using the messaging system to try and get them to resolve the missed payment since the money was deducted from my bank account. They are asking me to provide my bank statement showing the money was deducted. I don't want to share my other transactions with another company that doesn't need to know them, and I'm opening up my data for ...

Re: Family flying - picking seats at booking

We're a family of 5 with three little ones that will be flying this summer. . . Any recommendations on being able to pick assigned seats for a reasonable price? How young are the kids? In the past we've had success socially engineering seat assignments. I ask the booking agent if they can waive the fee because we're a family with young children. If that doesn't work I ask the check in/gate agent if they can seat us all together because we have young children. All else fails, ask the flight attendant/other passengers to exchange seats. Start asking early in the process and be persistent. Don't be afraid to ask to escalate to a customer service supervisor. It helps to act sympathetic but not annoying/entitled. Generally airlines will do what...

Re: Family flying - picking seats at booking

With two small children, I just consider the lowest-price fare that includes seat selection to be the lowest-price fare and assess the affordability of the trip based on that. It is not helpful to think of it as an "extra" charge, I try to completely ignore the price of anything lower as those are teaser rates that cannot meet our needs. In the same way, I ignore the price of flights that are not direct (when direct is preferred option) and I ignore the price of flights that leave at non-child-friendly hours. I also ignore the price of flights (for domestic travel) from other NYC airports that are not convenient for us to get to. If the price isn't right for suitable flights, I would look at other dates/travel modes or just not p...

Thanks for the feedback. Southwest is in the locations we are going, and their early bird option seems like it will work just fine to get us all seated together and the pricing is reasonable at $15 to $25 per person each way. I know I'm out of touch with how airlines are pricing things, but I thought there would be more a la carte options. Oh well. Thanks for pointing me towards Southwest.

Family flying - picking seats at booking

We're a family of 5 with three little ones that will be flying this summer. We've only flown once when we had one child so taking two more with will be a challenge. Of course we want to sit together and all my initial searches indicate we would need to upgrade classes in order to be able to pick our own seats. On some airlines this is adding over $800 to the overall flight cost. We're willing to fly a low cost carrier like Spirit, but when I priced out having assigned seats with them they were more expensive than United or American Airlines. Any recommendations on being able to pick assigned seats for a reasonable price?

Libraries are not free to get books, you're paying for them with your property taxes. I moved to an unincorporated area where the library is not a line item on the property tax bill. To get access to the local library they would require an annual payment equal to what that tax would be, and in my case it turns out the library costs about $500 a year. I can buy a lot of books for $500. I encourage everyone to go take a look at how much $ you're giving up in taxes to get your free library books.

Highly doubt this is legal. Best case this is for the software media only and you need a valid license and CD key to install. Worse case its illegal software and you are being scammed. So why not call Microsoft and Ask https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/piracy/default.aspx "You cannot use your own email for this. I will send you a username and password for your new account with instructions on how to install." No why would I ever touch this... Funny that you said to call them - I followed the link to the online reporting form and it leads to this message: We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found. I've been looking to get Mac Office 2016 as a download rather than paying a monthly fee. A quick check on Amazon and it's more than $200. When I looked on Ebay there are multiple sellers at less than $10. Below are some of the notes from the seller - and it's good on 5 devices. Ebay is showing over 1,900 sold. The weird one is that you can't use your email, but why would I even want to associate my email with Office? Is this a scam or a good legit deal? THERE IS NO PRODUCT KEY/CODE WITH THIS SOFTWARE. YOU WILL ONLY GET ACCOUNT DETAILS & INSTRUCTIONS TO DOWNLOAD & INSTALL THE SOFTWARE TO YOUR DEVICE OF CHOICE. This is a fully legal legitimate software. You can update as normal. This is a NEW account. There is no CD or key or serial c...

I highly recommend recommend visiting http://www.cedarbureau.org/ to learn more about the products and care. They have a member directory of service providers that are certified and we chose one that gave us a very good overview of product grades and treatments to get (or not). Cost wise it will be more than traditional shingles to replace - I would guess in the neighborhood of $30,000. Costco aims for more affluent customers, while Sam's aims for more of a "blue collar" type market. I once read an article comparing the two stores. The writer used a fine ladies sweater as an example. It would sell for about $100 in a department store and would be about $60 at Costco. He said that a Costco customer would say "that is a very good price for that nice sweater", while a Sam's customer would say "$60 is too expensive for a sweater". One data point: In my area the Sam's store closed "due to competition and lack of business". The competition is a Costco store that has been a big success. This appears to be correct after a quick search of locations in my area. All Sam's Clubs are located in ...

The used market might surprise you. Drove my last truck for 9 years. Went to buy a replacement and priced 2014/5 Silverados. The used trucks were the same price as a new 2017 with incentives. I shopped Carmax, various dealers, online quotes and private purchase. Cheapest I could find was a 2015 with 38k miles for 39.9. Bought a new 2017 for 40.7. The 800 extra was worth going new as it had full warranty, safety features, new tires, brakes, etc. The $800 difference would not buy the warranty or new tires. Just like my last truck I will own it 8-10 years unless it gets totaled. After 9 years of ownership (bought new) I sold it for 12k. IIRC we paid 36k for it new. Had a 100k warranty on it. Put 150k+ miles on it. Was my first new car. Hopefu...

It would be helpful to add some sort of reference to the charts. Visually for the S&P 500 I just see the line sloped down, came up a bit, and then went down again. I would have to read the numbers on the axis to see how much it fell and the calculate what the % drop was to understand the significance. Without something like an average day layered on the chart would I have no idea how bad this day was.

If you have a radon mitigation device I'd also suggest getting a radon detector for about $200. I have one that is battery operated and provides 1 day, 1 week, and yearly levels. It's battery operated so I occasionally move it around the basement to check the levels. I've found this to be a good solution to find out if the levels vary somehow throughout the year which wouldn't be caught by some kit that you leave out for 4 days.

I plan to return it. I did not mean to insinuate that I was in some way trying to not pay back the money I agreed to borrow. My curiosity is more along the lines of regulatory and risk practices. A while back Florida had high burden of proof in processing a foreclosure including original documents and the penalty to banks for their losing the original documents was that they could not foreclose. I believe the laws have been changed in the banks failure since. It would be very similar to bearer bonds - lose them and you cannot claim the money because you lost a piece of paper. I am curious if this would need to be self reported to a bank regulator or would it only be discovered via an audit sampling of loan documents. An error was made and I...

Surprised I had to scroll so far to see this. It's pretty close to what Jack Daniels is at about half the price - even the label seems to be a close rip-off. I found out about it from a WSJ article maybe 8 years ago. It's no Knob Creek, Woodford Reserve, or Makers Mark's - but the OP asked for reasonably pried bourbon and this is probably your best value.

Re: 2018 Subaru Outback

I have an older model - '13 - but for your needs the outback is a good fit. The back gate is lower than an SUV but still plenty roomy. They hold their value well, so buy new rather than used.

Re: Fixing Slow Drains

I had my sewer line backup once so we had a plumber come and run a camera down the line. I watched it and saw there was minimal tree roots that had caught up something. The camera was enough to knock it past the roots and clear the line. So then he tried to sell me on putting in a clean out valve for $5,000 and suggested annual cleanouts. We decided to simply remove the offending tree and will wait for the roots to rot. In the meantime we got a Cloghog hose that I use with a pressure washer to clear the line. It seems to be about every 6 months I clear it, so costwise it's saved me quite a bit over having a plumber come out to do it. You can use it for clearing interior drains but if you run a gas pressure water it may be a bit difficult to...
