Our "old friend" Suzie Orman said once again that those folks approaching retirement should not be in bond funds but rather individual bonds i.e. munis. Bond funds never come to maturity as an individual bond does. I see nothing wrong with bond funds in general, do you?

Oblivious: Yes she is still my wife. She's three years older then me and originally filed for her own benefits at her full retirement age (before I filed). Then when I filed and suspended, her benefits were increased a bit (spousal benefits based on my filing). When I unsuspend in two months fom now...

Anyone see a downside to AARP's Fixed Immediate Annuity through New York Life?

You get a monthly check, and should you die before the total of your checks reach a sum less then your initial amount you put in, your heirs get the difference.

Wife was told by her orthopedists to start psychical therapy and buy a stationary bike for home use for her two arthritic knees. One knee had a knee replacement 8 years ago that the doctors say was successful but the patient still has pain in the operated knee (although not as much as pre-surgery).....

Owned a Legacy for over 10 years....traded it in last week for a 2106 Legacy on order till about mid-Oct. Legacy a great car for the money, high safety ratings too. Their factory is working at full capacity...that should tell you something.

....if you're already in the donut hole? Two of my four perscriptions (tier 2) are due to be renewed. Although I get a 90 day supply I'll probably renew them for 30 days since where almost at Jan.1st when new year begins. Normally use CVS...should I be researching the prices at other retail pharmacy...

Original Medicare and a AARP Plan F Supplement seems to work the best...add to that a Plan D (perscription drug plan) from any number of different vendors and you should be ok.
