Re: Should I cash in my vacation days?

I'm retiring so I'll have a lot of time off. I was looking at tax implications getting taxed on the money this year or next year.
I thought maybe next year in the beginning because I'll be in a lower tax bracket then? Don't know if it's really gonna make that drastic of a difference though.

Along the same line I'm going to retire at the end of the year I can either have them pay me out for my 3 weeks vacation or used the 1st 3 weeks in January and get paid that way? which you think is the best option getting paid next year because I will be in a lower tax bracket? Let me know thanks Ra...

Edward jones to vanguard?

Hello, we've been with EJ for about 4 years now and now they're changing their fee structure Because of the Dept. of Labor ruling. The flat rate is going to around 1.5% plus any internal fund fees. My question is how hard is it to move everything and what kind of service can I expect with over 500k ...

Re: questions about portfolio

Sorry i wasn't trying to be a pain and make things too complex here but I was listening to Clark Howard last night on the way home from work and a guy had the same question on his show. Clark told him to compare his rates of return from his mutual funds over the years to I think he said S&P inde...

Re: questions about portfolio

thanks for your reply, that's pretty much exactly what I thought was going on. This advisor told my wife that the difference between them and vanguard is that people that were in vanguard funds lost their shirt in 2008 /2009 because they didn't move anything around like the advisor would have. what ...

Re: espp?

Thanks for the replies. They all reaffirmed my thoughts of getting the stock at the discount and then getting rid of it. One other question though about the amount and purchase of the stock. i was looking at putting $200/mth for the 6 months and then purchase the stock at the offering time at the 15...

hello, i was wondering would it be a better idea to increase my 401k contribution to 10% from 6% which is company match, or buy my company stock that's being offered twice this year at a 15% discount to the employees with the extra money? Joy Global stock which i've read is under valued right now is...

hello, i was wondering if it's better to leave our 401k contributions the way they are or switch some things? my wife has 12% taken out out with a 6% match. she has 2/3 of it buying GE stock and the other 1/3 goes into mutual funds there. I have 10% taken out with 6% match and it's invested in the f...

Re: advice or caution?

I rolled my 401k from a previous job with them now. I really met with them to be a financial planner and see if my Wife retiring in a couple of years was feasible. I previously left my old 401k in my old companies vanguard funds at a 60/40 split. I'm now questioning if I did the right thing. I'm wor...

Sorry about the lack of info. I left my old company years ago and still have my 401k in their Fidelity funds there.I started a new job who's 401k uses Fidelity also. I only mentioned vanguard and t Rowe price because I heard they have lower expense fees. Would it be smarter to just rollover my old 4...
