A look at form 940 and instruction will show you that the federal rate of 6 percent on the 7000 dollar FUTA base is reduced by 5.4 percent depending on the state where you pay state unemployment taxes. I have been an employer for over 30 years and I have almost always paid 0.6% futa tax

I received an email today from capital one bank offering 450 dollars bonus for depositing 50000 dollars in new money if kept until August 12. This savings account pays a regular interest rate of 0.4%.

I do not know if this is targeted or available to anyone.

I plan to tranfer this amount from Marcus by may 13, which is the deadline for capital one offer.

What to do with property in UK

Background:
My wife and I are US citizens. My kids are dual citizens-UK and US and they have not lived in the UK since their early childhood.
We have a small property in England which has been rented out for over 30 years . (surprising that I had no problems with any tenants, must be the good management company I use). My children do not intend to live in the UK.

Question:
How do we leave this property to our children? The attorney in the US who just did our will has no idea!

Thanks.

Social Security sigining up

This year my wife and I turn 70-My wife filed and suspended at her FRA and I have been receiving spousal benefits on her contributions.
My wife is at the 90 day window to apply for her full benefits but she could not proceed with her online application (contact us).
We called SS, got tired of waiting and gave up. we should try again soon.
However, since then I have read somewhere that her social security benefits will be automatically paid without applying again (because she applied and suspended over 4 years ago).If this is correct then this will save us the aggravation of calling SS or visiting their (particularly horrible) office.
Can anyone confirm this?
Many thanks.

My experience is that Fidelity’s conversion rates are not market middle rates. TransferWise rates are exactly the market rates. So , I used TransferWise to move money from PoundSterling to USD (to Fidelity CMA)
For the amount of money you are contemplating moving the Fidelity rates are unlikely to be competitive.

You tube has tons of videos-but not all very good. Food does not need to be authentic if you like what you cook. Most families in India, for that matter in many countries, do not cook as their mothers or grandmothers cooked. If you watch enough videos, a few minutes at most for each recipe, you will more than likely to find one that you like. I had many cook books but they have been donated to the local library and my instructors are all from you tube!

Re: Has any retiree taken classes at 4-year college - for interest - e.g. Spanish

You have probably already taken as many classes as you need. You probably need to dive in and start speaking Spanish. When learning a language, the real learning comes when you use it regularly. I agree with the above advise. I have taken Spanish and French in a State University for 2 semesters each with good understanding at how each language works. Believe it or not, I found the basic grammar fairly straightforward ( they are just rules, aren't they?).Vocabulary can also be learnt fairly easily (various sources, internet is full of them). The difficult part is the spoken language (especially French). There is no substitute to listening to various people talking (again, internet is full of them), I did not comprehend much at the beginning ...

1099R-3 of them for the same plan

I retired last year. At work, initially, the accounts were transferred from Keogh to 401K. I received one 1099 for that. Then the accounts were transferred to my Roll over IRA. I received another 1099 for that- it is the same money. These two were issued by the plan administrator. Then I received another 1099 for the same money from Fidelity (which held and holds all these accounts.) I entered all this information on my tax form and it shows that I have 3 times as much money that I have in my account! Is this a problem in the future?

Check out California state university system - if you are over 60, and space available, you can attend Spanish classes (from 101- all the way up to a degree), for that matter any other classes, for free . I have no personal knowledge of this, and this information is on the internet. I did Spanish in Duolingo for 2 weeks in preparation , before I enrolled in a local university Spanish class 101 ( not in California ) for free (textbook and online materials cost about 200 dollars). I do all the classwork, homework, assignments, tests and participate in discussions with twenty other 18 year olds!. I don't get any certificates and I don't need them.
