Make sure you understand your coverage. Flood insurance does not cover basement improvements such as drywall, flooring etc. Thanks. Many realtors know and have experience with local contractors. Use the realtors as a resource, as realtors can often recommend someone who can complete a job in a timely manner.

We like to use Carmax for fairly new cars that still have a warranty. Easy and fast service. For older cars that are worth less than $10,000, selling privately works well and nets a higher price. We have often sold the older cars to parents buying cars for their teens.

Personally I would go with option 3. You can think of it as paying $3800 per year for peace of mind for DW in case of your death. Otherwise you look set for anything with your assets.

Not sure what a conditional put is. But with a death put on brokered CDs can get face value if CD has lost value. This works for CDs held as individuals or in trust. If CD has increased in value then just sell for higher price.

I’ve also noticed gas bills going higher. Last summer I noticed really high bills. As it turned out we had a gas leak outside. Same thing happened to a neighbor who had a leak at the meter.

The UTMA/UGMA account does not automatically revert to the child when the child turns 18. As the custodian I had to initiate the transfer. Since the account held stocks, I had to get a medallion guarantee.

Loyalties to an employee is from the person that hired them. Unless company A or a person from company A hired you, stick with your present job. Your friend is from company B. If there is a position after the merger, then investigate.

For the fans to work effectively they must be set into the windows with nonfan areas blocked off. What you describe doesn’t function. Have you considered installing an attic fan that can exhaust entire house by leaving one window open?

If you received your income unevenly you can use the annualized income installment method, Form 2210. For example if most of your income was in the last quarter, then you would probably not have a penalty if you paid most of your taxes in January. Your accountant should be familiar with this form.

Lawman: pretty sure Warren Buffett would not be able to get a health insurance subsidy as income is determined by a modified MAGI that includes social security and tax-free bonds.

Though if someone only had Roth IRAs then there would be no income and theoretically one could be on Medicaid.

DS inherited a 2002 Toyota with 70,000 miles. Good running condition but wheel rims kissed the curb many times and body had imprints of mailbox. Luckily no money was spent on the car, as neighbors backed into car leaving a cavity on the driver’s side. Still runs like a charm.
