Re: My student loan refi experience (SoFi, Earnest, CommonBond)

We ended up using LendKey for myself and spouse student loans. I applied there and SoFi. I liked that LendKey showed the credit unions offering the refi offer. Process was very easy, rates better than SoFi (end of 2016 advertised low rates and actual offer much different with SoFi, I think 2% higher...

Another suggestion :
99 percent invisible - Good design podcast, sometimes political but often just design history.

Re: Weightlifting Equipment for Home Gym

Thank you for making this thread. After 2 years doing WOD / cross fit style workouts, I'm considering a home gym too. Probably will wait 2 more years given our garage is full. (So if you need to sell this stuff in the midwest, write back in 2019!)

Re: Anyone else decided not to finish med school?

Going through med school, yes it's difficult. The fact that he finished the first year says a lot. However, there is a benefit of quitting something especially quitting fast. One of the most popular podcasts is Freakonomics radio. One of their most popular episodes is The upside of quitting. I think...

The New York Times has an article on how to accomplish your goal. Here's the link: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/13/technology/personaltech/how-to-bid-adieu-to-yahoo.html?ref=technology&_r=0 I followed the advice here, except consolidated using a Gmail account. Their import option moved severa...

Re: Does Any One Have Any Experience Using the Goodreads Website

I like the app on my iPad (where I first started using it two years ago). Recommendations were accurate, I thought most recommended titles were older ones, so if you're looking for latest books, I wouldn't go there first. I prefer Amazon or NYT best seller lists. Finally, I purchased a Kindle Paperw...

Re: Books on efficiency in medicine?

The Successful Physician by Marshall Zaslove, MD I like that he boils down things to basic time management concepts in a way that relates to medical practice. Not specific to surgery. Mine is copyright 2004, I first read it in 2013 and concepts remained relevant (despite technology changes). Finally...

Thank you for all the comments. Great to hear others support. We see lots of Advocare and some Unicity, MIL used Xyngulair for 3 months to jump-start weight loss. Then she got out of the business (became "distributor" to drop her cost). SIL does Juice Plus... Like I said, seems like everyo...

MLM supplement friends, neighbors

My wife and I have been working out consistently since January 2014. We're happy with the results. A few weeks ago we did a Paleo diet challenge. Again, we liked the results and will continue these changes to keep a healthier lifestyle. We don't take supplements except protein shake after a day of l...

Re: Which of these home repairs would you do?

If you are planning to stay less than 10 years, I would save your money on any major changes. Since you bought it 2 years ago, unless you think there's water damage / mold, I would save money so you can eventually move on to your "forever" home.

Just my opinion.

Other streams I'd consider in next decade: property and/or part business ownership with employer. (Got 30 years til retiring. Good thing I love my job & have good health.)

I blow them into a pile then vacuum them into a 96 gallon can. The vacuum shreds and compacts them. I use... https://www.toro.com/en/homeowner/yard-tools/ultra-blower-vac-51619 with... https://www.worx.com/en-US/LeafPro.aspx I do this same thing with an electric B&D leaf hog. Yard is probably 1...

With all the complaints about a swinging cord being annoying, I'm surprised nobody has posted wireless headphones yet. Re: subscription clothing (mailed by the month)

My wife has used La Tote for about two months. Usually 2 of 3 items are things she will wear. Once she got one nice top and that was it. We would never buy this stuff at the prices asked. If she finds something she really wants to own, we've read to wait until the end of the season sale. Plus we hav...

Gifting Apple products, product upgrade cycles

Greetings, I'm a long time reader, and rare poster to Bogleheads. After briefly searching the forum, I didn't find a topic like this and thought it was worth a post. My wife is wanting to replace her '08 iMac for her birthday next month. The 21" screen models fit our price point and the last ti...

In a previous job I worked 80 hours a week, slept about 6 hours per night. I was stressed and disorganized, taking stimulants for ADHD. Procrastination was the norm. Now I work more like 50 hours per week (plus 8 hours of sleep) and procrastination is much less. I stopped all prescriptions for ADHD....

I'm in a small rural primary care office, multiple locations, one owner, three physicians, about the same number of non-physician practitioners. My spouse has the FitBit flex, seems to like it's features. I was not interested at the 3-digit price point, figured I would lose it easily. Overall I'm impressed hers has lasted almost a year. Today I saw a fitness band from Xiaomi in China for $13, seems to do similar functions too. This story on ...

I was torn with the decision because it meant spending money replacing a perfectly good car, but listening t...
