Question regarding TLH.
I have 2 positions in Mutual fund A.
- Position 1 was purchased 5 years ago and has unrealized losses.
- Position 2 was purchased today.
Question : What is the earliest I can sell position 1 and harvest the losses without a wash sale ?
Thanks.

Living Trusts.
Question about living trusts.
My wife an I have separate living trusts.
Can my wife leave her assets outright to my living trust if I am the survivor, with the provision that if I disclaim part or all of the assets, the assets would go towards funding a bypass trust set up in her trust documents? and vice versa ?
I know in principle this is similar to an AB disclaimer trust but we would like to each have our separate trusts for the time being at least.
Thanks.

Ages of the Investor
Per Bill Bernstein, when you reach the LMP ( liability matching portfolio ) he recommends placing that amount in safe assets such as a TIPs ladder, CDs, etc.
What if your reach the LMP while still working and you plan to keep working - should you still follow this advise ? ( in other works place the LMP in safe assets ? )
Thanks.

Re: Not your regular retirement questions
A follow-up question to the forum regarding Petem.
What if he is now 55 years old instead 35, kids are grown and his assets / expenses are the same as he mentions in his post ?
Would the forum's recommendations change ?
Can he now retire at age 55 ?
Any specific recommendations re personal finance planning / investing / trusts ?
Thanks.

Re: Another new physician
I would suggest that you start eliminating the debts ( student loans, mortgage ) as soon as you finish training.
Buy disability and life insurance.
Not too early to start a 529 plan for your child.
Contribute fully to pension plans and the 'back door Roth IRA'
Remember as Carl Richards says ' personal finance is more personal than finance '.
Your asset allocation is very personal and hinges on your risk tolerance - permanent damage can be done to your portfolio by panic selling at market bottoms. Invest only to the extent you are comfortable with - to quote Warren Buffet :' you should be prepared to lose 50% of your portfolio and still not lose sleep '
I would stick with Vanguard index funds.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.

Neuberger and Berman Genesis - NBGNX ER 1.05
Longlef Partners Small Cap LLSCX ER 0.92
I picked Vanguard Equity Income because of its dividend yield and better total return compared to an S&P 500 fund.
I have a gain in this fund.
Thanks.
