Re: If your net worth is over $3 million, how did you do it?

We are very close, about $100k away, and as I look back on how we got here, it came down to this: * Finding a supportive partner with the same financial philosophy. in my opinion, this is the most important. Even before we were married, my wife was the more proficient saver. And sharing that same ph...

Re: Refinance Mega Thread

Ugh, just signed closing documents on our refi with Better. Good news, 2.5% 30-year ($203,000 loan) zero points, $185 lender credit, and qualified for an appraisal waiver Bad news, our loan was sold to The Money Source (TMS) and they have TERRIBLE reviews. I knew our loan would be sold but I’m a bi...

Re: Suggest Video games that make you and your kids sweat

Our family of 5 play Just Dance on the AppleTV. Tons of songs to dance to and it’s also fun competing against each other to see who scores the highest points. Kids do need to have iPhones to use as sensors to play the game.

Re: Refinance Mega Thread

After 4 weeks, I am finally closing with Better on Friday. I was not happy with the title company they used (Title365) as there were numerous delays during the process. I had initially wanted to use my own title company but Better convinced me not to because they said it would delay the process. Wel...

Re: Californians with Fidelity HSA, what fund are you using?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I just moved my HSA to Fidelity from Health Savings Administrators. My aim is for long term growth (20+ years) and to reduce taxes and paperwork when filing. Here's my plan: * 60% in FZROX (Total Stock Market Index) * 10% in FZLIX (International index) * 30% in ...

Re: Refinance Mega Thread

For those looking into Jumbos / Super Conforming, I just locked in a 3% 30-year with Better. 0 points, $1,844 in loan costs (Appraisal, Credit, Flood Cert, Title fees) with a lender credit of $3,548. So I'll actually be getting $1,704 extra from the lender to do the refi. LTV is about 65% with a lo...

Owning.com is amazing. I went back a forth with Better.com and Owning.com and settled on owning.com for 15 Year 2.5% No Cost, No Escrow account. I got the same rate and no cost with them and I took that to Better, which beat it by issuing $2,000 in lender credits. So I went with Better, and I am al...

Re: Talk me out of buying a Tesla Model 3

I’m in nearly the same boat. I am evaluating the “base” RWD Model 3. I am 41, $2.2M in investable assets, $430K mortgage, $900K house worth, $240K household income and 3 kids. I’m currently driving a 2012 Toyota Camry and looking to liven things up a bit (guess I am at that age). We also have a 2016...

Re: Suggestions on Phonics & Reading programs for 4 year old? Pre-K to Kindergarten

My wife and I used “Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons” for two of our children. My youngest recently finished the book at 4 years old. It’s broken down in digestible 20 minute lessons, and what we usually did was one lesson a day, sometimes two depending on her mood. It took us approximat...

I just went through this same exact scenario with my son, who is 11 and just started middle school. I found a used iPhone SE in very good condition from a reseller who has lots of transactions. The phone arrived in 3 days and was flawless, with very minimal signs of wear. The battery was also at 100...

I figured a new one (while not a direct apples to apples comparison due to the new safet...

I'm in CA as well and currently use HSA Administrators for my family HSA. Prior to them, I had Saturna. Both HSA Administrators and Saturna did not provide a 1099. It was up to me to determine, when making the adjustments on our California tax return, the interest and dividends that the HSA earned. ...

I would recommend Seal Beach. It's got a small town feel and a great downtown/Main Street area next to the ocean. It is also very accessible to major freeways (405 and 605) and it is in the Los Alamitos Unified School District, which is one of the top school districts in Orange County. Seal Beach is...

Thanks for the replies. I failed to mention that the list of funds in the link is slightly different than the actual list available to me.
