What a cringe thread.

OP is picking all the bills and letting fiance spending freely. Fiance contributes a big fat 0 and you wanna buy 1M house from 200k your own salary. If it's dual income household, I can see this happening. But yeah, no way Jose. Make your fiance contributes, you are letting her freeloading off you forever is insanity.

Is Ally really only giving 0.5%? 1.10% https://www.ally.com/bank/online-savings-account/ So Capital One MM 0.8% Ally MM 0.5% Capital One Savings 1.0% Ally Savings 1.1% It looks like Ally is stealing from their MM customers much more than Capital One. I can see how they can pay 1.1%. I guess all those people upset at Capital One for the 0.2% difference are going to be really outraged at Ally for 3x as much stealing of their money in Allies money market account. Ally has offered MM and Online Savings from the beginning. As has Capital One (MM and 360 Savings, inherited from the ING Direct days). MM accounts offer a debit card and check-writing, savings accounts do not. What's slimy is that while 360 Savings used to be heavily promoted and ha...

I'm making this same decision right now and am going with the Moto G Power. The magnetometer sensor is not that important--your maps/GPS is perfectly functional without it. If you are happy with mid-range device, get a moto phone and get midrange performance but don't expect it to perform like $1200 iPhone or Samsung. Rather than buying a mediocre device, I'm gonna suggest a used flagship phone, Oneplus 7 pro, one of best android phones on the planet. Oneplus has been very consistent at providing software updates more than any other Android companies (besides pixel). From the performance to value ratio, nothing beats their device. It competes with $1000+ price point phones. But, don't trust my word for it. Look it up. One plus 7 PRO at around $250-300 at eBay used. Slap a case and screen protector, you won't notice you have any imperfection on your phone at all for 50% off (a trick I always use to get any phon...

Yes but you'll still have a clean slow computer unless you upgrade to SSD. HDD is also prone to high failure rate, especially the one you have in a laptop. Moving it around and bumping into places makes hdd failure rate even higher. If some sectors are bad, your computer will run to a crawl.

$230 Desktop - quad core, ssd, enough ram. Will last you 10 yrs easy. Windows 10 pro. https://merc.li/AfBcs55gb. And no, $800 desktop is likely NOT better than this one. Re: Upgrade to Pixelbook Go?

Tell your SO to buy it as your gift for the year. Sell your chromebook for cheap.

I don't mind dropping $$$ to tech. That's my vice. You gotta spend something. Sometimes I upgrade and take $200 loss just because...

I also I'd do a lot of those bank bonuses on the side and credit card bonus to get free money to buy toys.

Capital One $500 bonus isn't bad either. 1.5% rate. Citi at $400 bonus.

Or first foundation bank, neighbors bank at 1.75%.

I will be chasing some of these bonuses and probably make an extra 2k for some toy money this yr.

Re: Leave H&R Block for Turbo Tax or what other software

Many ways to reduce cost of turbo tax. I haven't paid for one for 7-8 yrs or at 1/4-1/5 of the cost of retail. Most people love to pay full price though.

Not a fan of chromebook. They suck. You can't run various programs on them. It's not versatile enough for a student.

Motile 14 inch laptop - like new condition

$255 after 15% discount, sale is being refreshed every day. Keep checking every 15 mins from 6-9am est.

250GB SSD, 8GB RAM, Ryzen 5 3500u quad core, built in Vega 8 graphics, weigh 2.5lb. Absolutely NOTHING beats this value laptop for that price. This laptop can even do very light gaming decently.

Re: Selling home - low ball negotiation

I'd counter 10k above asking price. They mocked you and they should know.
