Re: Car Thefts

F250s (and the other high end trucks) are tops on the list due to their tailgates. Owners dont realize this until its too late.....but tailgates go for >$1000 a pop on the newer trucks. There is relatively large amount of content now packed into them (rear view camera, backup sensors, etc) and they ...

Re: how many bogleheads drive jeep wranglers?

Had one....pretty close to the model you are describing - and it was a blast. I'm 36 now and have owned or leased at least 15 different cars. Wrangler was by far the funnest.....and easily the most impracticle. Highway driving is no fun - youre basically driving a shoebox....and a loud one at that. ...

Re: Middle Aged Couple Portfolio Advice

I like the advice posted above. Just go with index funds and use Roths. Also consider whether you may wish to own some of that REIT index fund. I suspect the Int'l index fund in your 401(k)s does not have small-cap international, so you may wish to use the Roth IRAs to hold small-cap int'l. Livesof...

Re: Middle Aged Couple Portfolio Advice

Sounds good. Thanks again for all the advice. 401ks have been updated to max contribution, Roths established at Vanguard with bloated emergency fund dollars. 401ks updated to the following: .44 SSGA S&P 500 Index .12 SSGA Russell SmMid Cap Index .11 SSGA Internation Index .03 SSGA Emerg Mkt Ind...

Multiple Roths on same Vanguard account

Anyone know if it is possible to have 2 Roth IRA accounts tied to the same log-on ID on Vanguard? I already have a Roth account set up, tied to my log-on ID/account. Can I set one up for my wife and tie it to my log-on ID/account? Or do I have to establish a new log-on account for her also? Would be...

Re: Middle Aged Couple Portfolio Advice

However, there's something obvious to do: move your emergency funds into Roth IRAs while also maxing your 401k's.. Non-Bob - your advice is sound and its starting to finally penetrate my skull (something my wife says isnt easy to do). Based on your explanation - it seems to make sense to me that I ...

Re: Middle Aged Couple Portfolio Advice

Duckie – thank you for the breakdown on the 401k portfolio. That logic makes sense to me. Non-Bob – now that is an explanation that I’ve been asking my so-called financial planner for years. Never could get a straight answer, but your simple/no-nonsense breakdown is refreshing. A little more info: -...

Middle Aged Couple Portfolio Advice

A little late in life to start getting smart about this, but after reading through Bogleheads for a couple months - I fear I may be doing too little. Spent the last 5-10 years focusing on debt elimination, new house, building savings. Now wanting to focus on reitrement. Age - Him 35/Her 34 Income - ...
