You don’t need to declare pregnancy. Once you have the offer, and have accepted it, let hiring manager know your time off plans . No employer can discriminate because of pregnancy. Most help in any way possible to show their commitment to family and work/life.

They reimburse upto $10 in any statement cycle. They can be good back up. BTW when I put travel notification, they say they won’t reimburse out side US but then actually reimburse.

Chard Snyder HSA
My company changed HSA administrator to Chard Snyder this year. Chard Snyder uses Healthcare Bank. My payroll contributions will go here now.
My previous HSA is at Lively. I have three choices:
1. Use Chard Snyder investments. 3K needs to be in cash. When my company leaves them or I leave company, I can consolidate at lively. They charge 20$ closing fees.
2. Take my contributions out once a year and roll over. This will be free but money will remain Uninvested for 12 months.
3. Keep on doing Trustee to Trustee transfers when I have say 2-3 K cash built. Does anyone know if Chard Snyder charges any fees? I know Payflex would charge $25 for this transfer.
I could not see on their site and they have not responded yet to my question on email.

I do drive them until they are done and don’t change cars frequently. I will replace Odyssey with Tesla Model X some time in future.

Re: The Case Against 529's
529s have worked very well for me. I have three kids. Two are in grade 7 and 9. One is in integrated 8 year MD program aka PLME at Brown University in her 5th year. Total cost of attendance 600K. I probably put in 450k or so in her 529 and hopefully will be able to take 600k out (already took out 460 k)
I am also on way to fund my other two kids 529. I see it extremely valuable in college planning. If money is left, it can be passed on to next generation. I don’t plan to use every dollar I have earnt and saved in other accounts. Why should I worry so much about 529 overfunding.
And yes, my other accounts like 401k, IRAs, HSA are maxed out.

Typically it is percentage of your salary of you contribute over a certain percentage of your salary. So depending on your salary and percentage contribution, you may be able to contribute through out and get 4% back in later part of year.

To give an idea about expense: My daughter was lucky to be selected in 8 year PLME program at Brown University. This is hyper competitive program after high school with guaranteed admission to MD at Brown. Only Ivy League to have an integrated MD program. Now the cost; Undergrad was around 70K times 4. Medicine will be around 80K times 4. In all it is around 600K expense. I have two other kids and their 529 is 400K each and I will get that to 500. After that will let it grow on its own. They are in 7th and 9th grade. Higher education specially medicine is very expensive. For me kids education is more expensive than home. Many institutions close account if they believe that you have used account for financial criminal activity- like money laundering, receiving or making payments for illegal activity. Re: What happens with additional mortgage payment?
To make calculations easy to understand. If you make it on same day as your regular payment day, entire extra amount will go to principal since interest is already paid by regular payment for that period.
If you do on a different day, even if part of it pays interest, regular payment will pay less interest and end result should be similar. Amount owed reduces.

What matters is their performance which will be same.Absolute value does not matter. It is like 20 $ vs 10 $ bills. You can keep your 100$ in 5 20s or 10 10s. Same thing here bw VTI vs SPTM vs ITOT.

Re: Why do people keep saying you have to be right twice?
If you don’t want to be back in market, you can sell and you are ok, assuming you profited. However if you finally want to be invested but are concerned that market will fall, you need to make two transactions. One to sell and other to buy. If you sell at bottom, you lost . If you sold, you need to buy at a lower price. If you fail in your chance to buy, you missed out. So you need to be right two times.
