Re: Letter from Nationwide Title Clearing - Is this a scam?
I too see that I received a letter from Nationwide Title Clearing on my mail scan earlier this week. I just completed a refinance in March. I’m traveling for a few days so I’m unable to open it.

Re: Repairing a hole in plastic kiddie pool
The kids thought it would be cool if the dog jumped in within hours of purchasing. Her claw tore a small hole in the top, my wife was beyond upset. I just placed a small piece of electrical tape over the hole until I can do a more permanent fix. To my surprise it has held up from multiple refills an...

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I always buy my summer cloths at the end of summer and winter cloths at the end of winter. I always look poor when I go shopping. Sometimes I get a big discount. I went to a restaurant while I was traveling and someone tried to slip me a $5. Said his wife felt sorry for me. When I left I paid there...

I’ve struggled with this as well after moving to a new part of the country. While I am a Apple user it sounds like I would benefit from the tag feature of Android. If often thought of building an apple app.

Re: I need a better online checking w billpay and mobile check deposit
There are two requirements I would like to leverage. The ability to auto bill pay electronic bills on the due date and to pay the full amount owed (not just the minimum balance). Does this exist? There are some credit cards I have been unable to even receive electronic bills into the bill pay syste...

Roth IRA Recharacterization, Conversion back to Roth IRA, Tax and 2017 Backdoor Roth Impacts
I contributed monthly to a Roth IRA during 2016 for both myself and my spouse. In Q4 of 2016 I realized I may be near the MAGI limit and stopped the monthly contributions. I took the following steps (for each Roth IRA) to reacharacterize the contribution and execute an eventual backdoor Roth IRA: - ...

Re: Help! Inherited money I planned to use for retirement but it disqualifies my kids from scholarships.
Am I missing something? You mention living paycheck to paycheck, use the $600k towards your living expenses. Defer all your and husbands income towards Roth IRAs, 401ks, and Roth 401ks. You are effectively moving the $600k towards retirement accounts. You will probably have to give up some control a...

Re: Portfolio Year in Review / Books Open for Feedback
@lafder - thanks for the advice. I don't recall exactly where I found the guidance, but I believe it was on bogleheads for someone who wanted a little more diversity in their portfolio beyond the typical 3 or 4 fund to break bond funds and international into two categories as well as splitting out s...

@bdpb - Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. I'm sorry but I don't know what you mean by leaning a little more towards "SC". In regards to moving towards Spartan Index Funds in Her 401k is that due to the lower expenses? @Grt2bOutdoors - True about the bonds being taxable upon full ma...

Portfolio Year in Review / Books Open for Feedback
Since I manage my portfolio myself and it is generally a sensitive subject with friends and family, I would like some feedback and general advice. This is my yearly reflection and request for feedback. Emergency funds: • 6+ months of expenses Debt: • Mortgage - $234,891 balance – 3.125% - 22.5 years...

Re: Feedback on my 2012 rebalance plan
Not Bob,
I appreciate the response. I actually straddle the 25/28% tax bracket, in 2010 I was barely over to 28%. Upon further review it looks like I will be be barely under and will land in the 25% in 2011. I suspect in 2012 I will be in the same ballpark.

Centrifuge, Thanks for the detailed response! 1.) I agree that makes sense. I will not exit quickly but instead look for opportunities to harvest losses or realize significant gains. 2.) Sorry, I wasn’t clear in the original post it is definitely tracking the US S&P 500, clarified above. 3.) Per...

I welcome any feedback on my 2012 rebalance plan. I spent a lot of time on this, so if I'm way off I would appreciate some guidance.
