Really? You could have made this same argument 3 years ago. Who's to say that we still won't be right where we are in respect to interest rates in another 3?

You can do the same thing lifelock does for free. Contact experian and the other two agencies and put a fraud alert on your credit file. That will keep anyone, including you, from opening an account without personal contact with you. I have had my credit cards used fraudulently at least 10 times an...

Static 60/40 stock/bonds here. Bond allocation relative to age is trending higher as I push through age 40.

Savings bonds are tax-exempt. So our tax-advantage space is increased. This is a normal AA consideration. I bonds are inflation indexes. This is a normal AA consideration. Just to be clear, I think you meant "tax deferred" not tax exempt. I'm new to this as well and want to be sure I'm getting this.

Re: Rebalancing for Major Asset Allocation Shift

So, you believe an 87/13 portfolio is less risky than a 60/40? Paul No, just the opposite. I think the 87/13 is quite a bit more risky than the 60/40. Hence the shift to the 60/40. The question was whether to shift all at once or to do it over an arbitrary time period. I am a bit concerned that int...

Final thought: Any site that provides a free service still needs to monetize their service in some fashion. If the user experience is free, then where are they getting the money? They need to sell the data (such as trending) in order to make money. No other way to do it. Now think about point #1......
