fwiw My 401k is with Fidelity and I use the Brokerage Link option for some of my funds. The CIT's in the core plan are updated next day and I can see dollar and percent changes for each CIT. The CIT's track their respective indices fairly close and are almost identical to a comparable index. Example...

I don't really care whether Vanguard "loses" or "wins." I don't want them to collapse . I want them to keep operating the funds I personally use. I don't want the fees on Admiral shares of those funds to rise to above, oh, I don't know, 0.10%. I don't think it helps me for Vanguard to get more giga...

The Dow Jones Industrial Average broke 1000 for the first time in November 1972. A few months later a bear market began and the Dow lost 40% of its value. So, was it a good time to start investing?

they both have identical effective tax treatment provided you qualify for the full deduction to AGI Can someone explain how this is true? A 401k is not subject to FICA tax, while a tIRA is. Vanguard likes to "tweak" its LS and TD funds. It's in their DNA.
