If by "camping" you mean tent, sleeping bags, etc., with a family of four, I can't imagine making it work with a Crosstrek. Especially once camping also includes bikes or kayak, etc.

We have an Outback and love it. Would never consider Crosstrek - too small.

The market value of a house is what someone will pay for it. Not what the owners idea think it is worth. If it would be an 500k house after 200k of work, you don't own a 500k house. You own a 300k one. I fully agree.. How would I prove this is the case? Do I just get an independent appraisal?

I max out my 403b and 457b because that's pretax money going in. I max out my tIRA because I only get one chance each year to do that. I guess the 529 is sort of the same as my tIRA, in that you can only put in so much each year, but for some reason it seems different to me--maybe it isn't(?) Anyway...

When I finally do, can I set it up so that dividends and interest automatically go into a Vanguard money market fund? So that later I can use that to manually reinvest in whatever I want?
