Re: Anyone in Westchester County, NY here?

Tarrytown has nice variety of restaurants, river front apt and town homes are quite expensive if you are looking for modern and new. Irvington has very nice condos and apts. If you want drive north, Briarcliff Manor is good option. Yorktown Heights have decent apts for rent but downside is no train ...

Re: Front load 401k?

I have been front loading 401k with first pay check in Jan for last 3 years, as we get paid bonus in Jan. Also employer match is offered once a year, so I don’t need to worry about missing match. Front loading can be a hit or miss, i:e last year front loading worked in my favor as stock market went ...

401k 18000 + Employer match

For 401k I contributed ~ 9500 from bonus in Jan, rest spread out the year to the max

Planning to do same for 2018 ~ 10000 from bonus in Jan rest to max spread over the year

Basically front loading the contribution at the start of the year

Re: iPhone X - Any deals available?

You did not miss Sam’s offer, as hardly any Sam’s clubs had lPhone X in stock, those stores with stock had only like 1 to 4.

BF WM deal might be same too as iPhone X stock is extremely low, Apple could not able to produce to the demand

Re: Lump sum contribution to 401k from bonus

Thank you for your replies Do you mean you can front load your rate of contribution to the 401K? If so, that is a good idea. Yes it is a front load to 401k contribution. This will depend on how your 401(k) does any matching, if at all. So if contributing large amounts to your bonus early in the year...

Re: Gift Card Exchange Web Sites

I have used cardpool several times bought $1000 + worth of gift cards, always on time arrival, no issues when using. Actually I make the deal better using topcashback.com for 2% cashback on cardpool purchases.

Re: What to do with individual stock I received?

Unless you loose sleep less nights during market down days, just hold on to them for 10 - 20 yrs, of course if you don't need the money. CP has been more like a bond with regular dividend payments.

Re: New Grad needing some advice

Congrats on your graduation.

When you contribute money to your 401a, it needs to be invested in one of the funds listed in your plan.

From the list Russell Large Cap Equity Index with 0.18 ER is a good option for you to start with.

Now, with that said, I have a question for you since all of this is confusing to me.... If on Tuesday, Sep. 13th you had mid 4-figures in Taxable/401K/Roth, how can you max-out the 401K and Roth IRAs by the end of the year? Thanks for the response, Sorry for the error, it was a typo, my current por...

Re: Vanguard Target Ret Fund (VTIVX) for taxable account Sug

Please suggest pros and cons. TIA. All portfolios need at least 20% bonds. http://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=538014 Bonds (and therefore target retirement funds) don't belong in taxable. See link below for how to get help setting this up. Thanks for the link, it was an excellent discu...
