Re: 15 Year Refi For Young Cople

No cost refi. The extra payment option wouldn't work due to the 5 year minimum PMI payments on the FHA mortgage. Also, I can't use the higher appraised value to eliminate PMI--would have to be the original purchase price. FYI--the total 15 year payment (P/I, tax, HOA, Insurance) comes out to about 2...

I know the general theory amongst Bogleheads is for younger people to take a long mortgage and max tax advantage space but I wanted to get your thoughts. Here are the basics: -Him 25 Her 24 ...

Can I roll my 401k into a roth 401k?

I was hoping to get some information on this. Is it possible, while staying with my current company, to roll my 401k into the roth 401k option and take the tax hit? I am looking at an extremely low tax rate (5-7%) this year so thought this may be a good idea to pay the taxes now--even if this rate w...

Re: Would You Buy This Car?

I would sell the suv for$10,000 (already have a buyer). The purchase price of the new car is $18,000. The blue book on the new car is $26000. Thus, a significant family discount. The car was previously my mothers who kept it in incredible condition. Even so, she is taking it into the dealership to h...

Rental property

If you are looking to buy a new primary residence while keeping your current home as a rental, what will the mortgage company require to qualify for the new home? I have heard you need 30% equity in the rental or two years of rental income to exclude the rental mortgage from the debt to income ratio...

Haha not to say you older guys don't like your vacations. The taxable account mainly holds an energy fund and shares of GE that I bought awhile back. It seems like the best idea would just be to allocate the taxable contributions to my emergency savings. Another question for you, my girlfriend will ...
