Accessing my [Vanguard] account

Every few years I some times need to take some of my Vanguard money and transfer it to my bank account. Tonight I attempted to do that and was first told that my password was not acceptable and then, after calling the phone number shown, was told to call back tomorrow during business hours.
Hopefully without disturbing those jack boots I aroused a few times in the past, somebody can tell me why I can't access my account at 10 PM nights?
Thank you.

What is the specific error code?
I forget exact error code but will write it down if it happens again. I have checked to see if all drivers are updated and keep Windows 10 updated. All are up to date. I actually have a new PC but still have not made complete changeover yet.

blue screen

In the past I've never had any problem with blue screen. Lately though it seems to be happening more and more. I don't recall adding any software lately but when I went to www.windows.com.stopcode it was recommended that I temporarily uninstall any "3rd party anti-virus software". Don't have any. I'm not sure but I think it's happening most often when I am using a web site to get price quotes and click on " See Amazon " or something that takes me to Amazon and that is when the blue screen occurs, just after I get to Amazon.com and then - blue screen. I buy through Amazon, use their web site quiet often, and NEVER have I experienced blue screen when logged directly into their web site. But, seems like, when I come in to t...

Ruby-crowned kinglet. Tiny bird, about size of wren with bit of red hair on head. Feeder is just outside picture window which has 1-way film so I can watch and the birds ( and whatever else) can't see in. All the birds were eating more than normal during this sub-freezing weather we just had and I tried to keep plenty of food available for them.

Re: Any Boglehead Lessons From the Texas Winter Storm?

The best strategy might be to drive your RV to Mexico during winter storms.
This weather went WAY down. Monterrey, Mexico had low temp of 19 on Monday (if I'm reading right). Monterrey is on about same latitude as Brownsville, TX. I don't want to go into Mexico period - any time.

https://www.timeanddate.com/weather/mex ... y/historic

Right now I've got power back on and am warmed up. I'll wait one more night (supposed to freeze again overnight) before turning water back on. I'll make a deal with you guys from way up north, you keep this kind of weather up your way and I'll keep the hurricanes off you. I can't wait for some Good Ole 100 degree Texas summer.

Same thing just happened to me. I did not notice the charge till after I received an email from squaretrade.com. It reads like this:
Hi William,
Thank you for purchasing your new TV protection plan. The Protection Plan details and the Terms and Conditions, listed below, make up your digital protection plan contract. Because we are 100% paperless, feel free to print this out for a hard copy.

#9 at Mansfield. I was playing with a group of friends and sliced my drive off the tee. The ball went over the trees to the right and obviously came down on the top of a car coming down the road because we could hear the loud BANG and hear people all talking, well yelling actually, at the same time. The car went on down the gravel road and turned around. We knew it was time to bail out and headed for the deep woods along the #8 hole. We hid out till we thought the coast was clear and got the heck out of there. In all my life I've never been so scared, even in Vietnam. #9 there there or any other hole there is nothing like Pebble Beach or August National but the golfing is fun even if you have a bad slice. Spectrum just raised their Internet prices again, and now regular priced Internet is $74.99. I currently have a $5 "promotional discount" added on from calling their retention department, but that means I'm still paying $69.99. We also have YTTV at $64.99 plus tax. Our total out-the-door price for TV/Internet right now is $139.20 per month. This is the most we've ever paid for TV/Internet. Six months ago back in June - before the recent price increases - this same combo of service for us was $113.23 per month. In six months, the same exact services have gone up a combined $26 per month. Up until now, we always managed to keep our TV/Internet price between $90 on the low end and maybe $115 at the high end. It seems like those days...

Re: Cord cutting 2020 - Youtube TV

the Recast is a networked device. You view on the Fire Stick/Cube @720p in stereo. Look for a used Tivo for OTA recording. They're great for that. Or if you're into techish things HDHomeRun
You need a Fire TV device of some sort. It can be a stick, cube, tablet, phone, or TV with FireOS built in. The recast has no remote or video out--it is a Network DVR. You need a client to actually play back the video, and a Fire stick is one of those options.
Thanks for this. (You guys are FAST).

Re: Cord cutting 2020 - Youtube TV

Just passed the 1-year mark with YTTV. Never ever going back to cable. There are a couple of local channels that have content we like that are not included, so we bought an Amazon Fire Recast DVR to record them off of antenna. One-time charge of $180 for a 4-tuner, 1TB DVR with no subscription fees. I think the 2-tuner 500GB version is sometimes available as cheap as $130.
I'm considering an Amazon Fire Recast DVR but have read that an Amazon Fire Stick is required for use. Is that true? I will use it with a roof antenna and Sony Smart TV. All I intend to do is record local (ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, etc) channels. So, why a Fire Stick, if that's true?

Yeh, I forgot about McEnroe and his childish behavior, and Jimmy Connors. Both were annoying back in their days. But they kept quiet when they hit the ball. I give them credit for that. I don't recall if Kyrgios does or not as I turn him off immediately now.

Thanks. Honestly I don’t know what has happened to the sport of Tennis over the years. Conners, McEnroe, Agassi, Chan, Borg, Williams sisters, and so many more. Now I am not sure of any pros.
All the yelping and grunting and (whatever else you call that guttural garbage) turned me off. Watching without the audio just doesn't cut it. Unless it's Nadal vs Djokovic or Federer in a Grand Slam match I seldom watch any more. Then there's the jerks like Nick Kyrgios who would fit in just fine with many of these boorish American pros now days. Maybe others feel the same way and people are losing interest in tennis same as in other pro sports.

I enjoy watching the Tour de France because of the beautiful scenery and, most times, the actual racing. But for all these years I've watched I still wonder why most, if not all, of the French towns are laid out (best I can say) just any old way. If you look at, for example, the town of Privas using Google map were those streets laid out first and houses built later? Why are the streets so twisting and turning (same thing?)? I have tried to get an answer using Google and come up with nothing except maybe it has to do with "protection". Not sure where I saw anything regarding that but makes me wonder. So, can anybody help me out here and give me a good answer. Meanwhile, I'll watch Stage 20, which I've recorded, and try to enjoy (I...

Re: Very Frequent Scam Automated Calls

I'm not a fan of AT&T but am a Uverse customer due to my former baseball team's games being on one of their channels. I also have AT&T internet and AT&T land line. Land line includes a feature called Call Scan which allows you to input the phone numbers of those whose calls you wish to come through. All other calls are rejected. You can turn the feature OFF & ON if you are expecting a call from somebody not on the approved list, like a plumber who needs to make contact. Works fine but numbers you can input are limited to about 25.

Speaking of AT&T, they may be about to sell Direct TV which they bought not too long ago. If they do I'll switch back to Direct TV faster than I can down a bottle of Shiner Bock.

The comet location is readily apparent just after sunset because at least now it will be in the area of the front paw of Ursa Major. The Big Dipper constellation known by most school children in the USA is just a subset of the Great Bear. Around sunset this time of year the foreleg and paw of Ursa Major will be extended downward from the left side (bottom) of ladle of the Big Dipper. The two stars in my photo are the bear's front paw, but they are weak and not always visible to the naked eye. Note that the comet is about the same intensity in my photo. Well, with some advice I read here and more I read from other sources I was able to locate the comet fairly easily but then when I had watched it long enough I decided to see what I could do...

I was hoping somebody would ask about that. We're heading out to north of Fredericksburg (TX) Monday and Tuesday and have info needed to hopefully locate NEOWISE. I saw Halley's numerous times and from where I was seeing it (a Bortle Dark Sky Scale 4 area) it was fuzzy, or not sharp looking (I can't think of right words) compared to what I am seeing in photos of NEOWISE. Hopefully we can find NEOWISE and I'll know next week but maybe can get some feedback here. Halley's was easy to see even without my glasses once I knew where to look but it was not too impressive.

I just did the same thing and moved to the Bolt, bought it from Best Buy and it had an error after it updated over the internet. I called support and they told me it was because it didn't have a subscription, and I imagined they were wrong as they could not have possibly had an error such as that instead of just saying it wasn't active. You get what you pay for. For value, features and convience its impossible to beat a Tivo. They sell an OTA model designed specifically for use with HD antenna and internet streaming. It does all the work flawlessly recording what you want, inserts skips for commercials, updates itself on several times a week, and is bulletproof reliable. Or you can cheap out and cobble together one or more lesser devices getting something a level of magnitude less capable and reliable. Different strokes for different folks. I'm sold. Thanks for all the replies. First off, my house is in a city with Bortle reading Class 8-9. I think my adding another light won't (or can't) increase that number. I currently have two LED lights (aimed downward toward my driveway) on the front of my garage and both burn from dusk to dawn same as many similar lights throughout this neighborhood - all HOA approved. If I do add a light for that flag it will be placed behind a wooden fence, same as the flag pole, and only the top of the flag pole will be lighted. Any way, after considering a number of options, I think my light will be a hardwired LED sufficient to light the flag. I appreciate all the input from you folks.

Re: What will you do first, once COVID pandemic is over?

Not gonna wait till it's over. Will be going to Big Bend next week and spending however many days we want. Where we're camping there won't be anybody within 6 miles of us, must less 6-feet. Well, hopefully.

Re: garage projects

Here's a couple you might find something interesting:
https://www.yellawood.com/diy-projects/. There's a TV show on PBS called Ask This Old House and they often have projects you might like. I have 2 bookmarked and hope to start as soon as wood is available (meaning when I can get over to home Depot for wood). Here's one sample project from those guys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9GSTO-4Txo.

Re: Need Options - Honda Accord Incredibly Uncomfortable Seats

I have same model car (last of the Accord V6's) - my 3rd Accord. Never had any seat discomfort with previous 2 and none now. And no, my butt is not heavily padded.

Re: Orange cable from utility pole on the ground on my property

If you want the problem fixed FAST, just take an ax and chop the cable through. My neighbor did that when a seismic crew ran a cable across our property down on the coast. The cable ran from a boat out in the Gulf to the beach, across our property, across the Intracoastal Waterway and into a wildlife refuge on the mainland. No sign of the seismic crew anywhere. Within an hour of severing the cable lots of people showed up and the problem was taken care of.

After going through the usual routine questions such as have you tried resetting, have you unplugged the DVR for so long and on and on I came to the conclusion this person knew little more than me as for getting anything done to help. I na...
