Re: What to do when company won't honor exchange policy/warranty?
I'm confused, was the laptop sold as a Refurbished unit or as New? Hi 2retire, It is a custom build to order new alienware 13 r3 with the oled panel from dell.com. It is not refurbished. In one of my interactions with them, after they tried to tell me cosmetic damage did not qualify and I brought u...

Hello, I had purchased a new laptop from dell/alienware over black friday, after a month delay it finally arrived at the start of Christmas week. Turbotax help with 1099-r
Was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this situation? In early 2015 when I was filing my 2014 taxes, I realized a work bonus made me eligible only for a partial roth ira (did a regular roth ira for the full 5500 in 2014. I ended up re characterizing what amounted to the 1040 of roth ir...

Question on tax lost harvesting with VWO purchased within last 6 months
Hello, I had bought some additional VWO shares in a taxable account in August. I noticed that Vanguard shows dividends on 9/29/15 and today 12/23/15. Since then it has lost a good amount of money so I had planned to tax lost harvest with IEMG. I saw the following the wiki regarding tax lost harvesti...

Question on tax loss harvesting from the brokerage
Hello, I had a question on the actual execution of a tax loss harvesting opportunity. When tax loss harvesting and picking a tax loss fund to exchange to, do you just pay the commission fee or transfer the money to another brokerage that has the alternative fund commission free? I have read a lot of...

Re: Excess 2014 Roth contribution already did 2015
Hi Alan,
Thanks again for your help. And when I convert my partial traditional ira from 2014 to a roth ira, the taxes would actually be due for the 2015 tax year correct since I am converting in 2015? I was reading the finance buff and they had an article that seemed to indicate so.
Thank you!

Sort of as a follow up question If one did re-characterize part of the 5500 roth ira from 2014 to a non deductible ira due to income limit, and then convert the non deductible portion back into a roth ira in 2015 what additional paperwork would be involved? Would it just require a form 8606 with an ...

It's not hindsight if I've been in it nearly 20 years, is it? Hi Sandman62, I think the point that is trying to be illustrated is that it is very difficult but certainly not impossible for an actively managed fund to beat it's benchmark over long periods of time especially AFTER ER's are tak...

Re: Does my 3-fund look good? [28yo newbie]
Hello, Unless you would like the flexibility of your ROTH IRA as an emergency fund also, it would seem to be more advantageous to use the institutional level funds in your 401k since they have much lower expense ratios than the comparable investor shares you would get in a roth ira. The following fo...
